Goliath (2016)
I will miss it.
I have all 4 seasons and apparently there will be no more, which is a shame. Great storylines and highest quality actors make this a joy to watch. It revolves around Billy McBride, a lawyer/P. I. who tends to take on the big guys. But it is the relationship between him, Patty and Brittany which anchors the show. Just finished Season 4 which could have done without so many annoying dream sequences but that aside it was outstanding. The main characters were ably supported by Bruce Dern as Frank and Jena Malone as Sam. I won't be going to San Francisco though. It rains every night.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Ritchie back to his best.
A great movie, full of memorable performances, funny dialogue and plenty of action. Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell have gone way up in my estimation stealing the glory from Matthew and Charlie who was still excellent. No one does this genre better than Ritchie. Hope there is more to come.
Call Me by Your Name (2017)
A moving masterpiece.
When I began watching this film I had no idea I would be in tears at the end. A real love story perfectly shot and portrayed. Timothee is a force of nature, carrying this film at such a young age, his every look saying so much and his tears as the credits rolled revealed the sadness we all hoped Elio would recover from. And when you thought it could get no better his fathers monologue was inspiring and superbly acted. I look forward to watching this film many times as I also have a special summer in my heart to look back on.
Dolores Claiborne (1995)
No Oscars?
No Oscar nominations for this amazing cast? So the Academy thought there were 5 better performances than Kathy Bates's here. I'd love to know who they were. I also feel if Judy Parfitt had been American she would have been nominated.
