Outlander: I Am Not Alone (2022)
Cringy sex scenes. Writers are out of ideas.
This finale was underwhelming. Claire is a witch yet again and a significant amount of time was spent on Brianna and Roger and Jamie and Claire having sex. I didn't find Claire and Jamie's conversations very interesting either. For much of the finale I found myself wishing they would stop talking and stop having sex so something interesting could happen.
Jamie and Claire are in this mess because they let the Christies move onto Fraser's Ridge. Jamie knew what kind of man Tom was and that he was a religious fanatic, but said in the first episode that he couldn't say no to Tom because he invited other people from Scotland to live there. That was weak and shortsighted. Did any viewers think that it was sensible?
There are ways to make Outlander exciting again, but Gabaldon and the other writers seem to have writer's block.
Outlander: The World Turned Upside Down (2022)
Unrealistic and Unbelievable
It doesn't make sense that, except for Jamie's immediate family, everyone at Fraser's Ridge turned against him and Claire. The Scots at the Ridge knew them for years, then suddenly they take the word of weird Malva, who had just recently moved there, over Jamie's? They wouldn't turn against Jamie and Claire - the two who own the land and who protect and take care of them.
I also find it very unlikely that Malva, who was Claire's apprentice, would cut off her hair because of an old wive's tale. Without even speaking to Jamie or Brianna about it first.
It doesn't matter to me if this episode closely followed the book. It was bad.
Outlander: Allegiance (2022)
Boring
Twenty-three minutes into episode 2, I'm bored. Outander now has too many scenes with children and babies. Too much pregnancy stuff. Nothing interesting or exciting. Jamie's interaction with the Native American women wasn't very funny. I don't mind slow-paced shows when the dialogue is interesting, but here it's not. Too much of the same old.
I only read the first three books, so I don't know where the story is going. Too bad Claire and Jamie aren't back in Scotland or living in an exciting European city. Fraser's Ridge with all the family, chores, and child rearing just isn't much fun.
