Shine on Harvey Moon (1982–1995)
January, February, June & July...
22 October 2003
An extremely interesting period drama set in post-world war II England. Although comedy plays a large role in the series, deeper and more prominent social issues such as divorce, love affairs, and racism are important factors within the story lines. To an extent it is a black comedy which follows the lives of the members of the Moon family, but there is enough light hearted humour to make the show highly enjoyable! I believe it was created by the same people who created 'Goodnight Sweetheart' if that is any indication as to it's style!

Starting Out (1999– )
Great Modern British Comedy
11 November 2002
A brilliant and sweet little television series about a young girl (Samantha), her white-trash mother and her sex-crazed best friend. Samantha is engaged to be married to boring, reliable, business-minded Steve, but falls in love with vivacious, spontaneous, footballer, Dean. She tries to handle both relationships for a while, but will she succeed? You'd better check out the series! It is a classic!

Belinda (1988)
Tryhard B-Grade Movie
8 October 2002
'Belinda' is one of those bizarre films that never really leaves your subconscience, despite the fact that it's a lame attempt at drama. It basically follows the story of a girl, Belinda, who becomes an Exotic Dancer at an upmarket nightclub. She falls in love with the guy who makes the costumes, and has to withstand torment from the other dancers. No real storyline, but intriguing all the same.

An artist obsessed with finding his princess...
1 September 2002
A mentally disturbed artist (Sessue Hayakawa), from the mountains of Japan, is convinced that his fiancee, a beautiful princess, has been captured and turned into a dragon. His obsession with his fictitious loss, leads to his artistic inspiration.

It isn't until a young surveyor, (Toyo Fujita) comes across some of Tatsu's artwork, that his genius is discovered. The surveyor then informs the famous artist, Kano Indara about his discovery, who immediately agrees to meet Tatsu.

Indara, his daughter Ume-Ko, and Undobuchida soon realise that they cannot persuade Tetsu to come down from the mountains to further his talent as an artist, without a ploy.

Ume-Ko consequently dresses up as a Princess, and the promise of Tatsu being re-united with his long lost love, lures him into Kano Indara's house. Of course, the family realises that Tatsu has a lot of uncivilized and crazy habits which he needs to get rid of, if he is going to fit into civilized Japanese society.

Overall, the movie is a very sweet and interesting piece. There is great use of color-tinting throughout the film, which perfectly reflects the mood and theme. Hayakawa does an awesome job at playing a madman- a good combination of dramatic and comical acting.

Although it is not the best silent movie I've ever seen, it is definitely worth watching. It's a lovely little fairy tale which puts a smile on your face!

A Dramatic Epic about World War I Fighter Pilots.
1 August 2001
This BBC Television series definately started well, showing strong characters and interesting relationships, as well as creating historical interests. However, the series ended extremely abruptly, and didn't really have a 'conclusion', and began to waver in credibility towards the end. However, I would still recommend it to any fan of history/ aeroplanes! Worth a watch!

The Sweetest Musical Ever!!!
1 August 2001
The Broadway Melody is a very sweet film about two sisters and their struggle for fame, fortune and true love in Broadway. I was captivated with this film from the first time I saw it, despite the unsynchronized 'talkie' effects, and 'shaky' film. The story line isn't the best ever written, but the fabulous dancing and song numbers sure make up for it!!! For any 'Musical' lover, I would certainly recommend it!!! It's Academy Award for Best Picture was well deserved!!!

The Wind (1928)

The Powerful Saga of Love and Deception.
1 August 2001
A young girl (Lillian Gish) goes to live with her cousin, but finds herself to be an unwelcome guest. To escape from her cousin's evil wife, she marries against her will. However, the harsh solitude of country life, and the amazing strength of the wind, almost sends her to insanity. An amazingly effective film, which definately proves that Silent Movies are the highest form of cinematic expression!!!
