Saltburn (2023)
NOT A COMEDY!!!!
Please read this before watching!
Let's look at this film from a very analytical point of view:
- the cinematography is great, emphasizes the emotions and is creative
- the production design was fantastic. They even brought back the signature two-color RayBans we all used to wear back in 2006.
- the acting is... well, they sure didn't hold back and the characters were believable
- the story... well, I wouldn't call it a "Heroe's"-journey
All things considered this was a very well made movie.
My big, BIG "but" is: this is, under no circumstances, to be considered a comedy!!!
I really hope that people, trying to have a good time and watch a comedy read this comment and skip this movie until another day.
I don't know, these days some movies like "Parasite", "White Noise" or this one are considered comedies while they should definitely have some sort of "Psycho Thriller" in their genre description. I loved Parasite, but still, these movies deserve a whole new genre so people like me don't end up watching them in the hopes of some laughs and get to lay awake in bed at night, because it's too much to take in, if you're not a hundred percent aware of what you're about to watch.
Did I like this movie? Just the first 20 minutes.
Do I appreciate the craft that went into it? I sure do.
But please, please don't watch this if you don't feel like being shocked!
Baby Done (2020)
MUST WATCH (for parents to be)
Is this film flawless? No, definitely not. So hang on for a second why I think this is a must-watch nevertheless.
First things first. If you expect a polished, predictable Hollywood-style romcom, you might want to free you from this expectation. This film is, in the core of its story, very realistic and talks about a serious issue: a mom denying her pregnancy. Why I give this film a 10-star rating, although I think this film does have some flaws? Well, because flaws in films are so utterly irrelevant if the film still manages to give you all the feels. I was shocked, disgusted, happy, laughed (also out loud), sad,... you name it. I can only recommend this movie and, of course, especially to all the parents to be.
