Get Smart (2008)
Unfunny - barely a few laughs in it.
This film is very disappointing. It has too many pointless action sequences and very few laughs. Some of the references to the gimmicks of the TV series are contrived and don't really work.
It's a shame as the TV series was quite inventive and holds up well today.
Perhaps this film would work better for people who haven't seen the TV series. Though having said that the film doesn't hold up as a comedy in its own right.
Maybe it's time to put an end to making movies out of old TV shows, most of them have been failures, with some exceptions such as Starsky and Hutch.
Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking (2004)
Fantastic
I gotta disagree completely with 'mgmax' of Chicago.
I watched it on TV very recently. This was the 2nd time it has been shown on the ABC (In Australia). I recommended it to everyone I know- sounds cheesy I said, but it's worth watching. Why? For Rupert Everett, that's why.
This movie is all about Rupert Everett. Forget all that stuff about the plot- this is Sherlock Holmes for Christ's sake!. Everett is simply great as Holmes.
The film has got some great one-liners, some are quoted on the website.
Sit back and enjoy the best Holmes ever.
This one goes into Holmes' drug taking as well.
We don't see enough of Rupert Everett. I just watched the Comfort of Strangers- now that's got a thin plot.
