Photon (1986– )

Correction of others
25 October 2007
I've seen many people stating that "Lazer Tag" came out first, and "Photon" copied them. ACTUALLY, "Photon" was developed in the late 70's, while "Lazer Tag" came out in the mid 80's.

This was actually a pretty cool kids show - (Looking back) the only thing I find that sucked about it was their use of popular music of the day... only sung by nameless singers instead of the original artist. Just didn't sound as good. ;(

the game gear for Photon is also very hard to find compared to Lazer Tag - until recently(2 sets were auctioned off this week - SHOCKING!), the only set I had ever seen for sale was back in 1998.

Yet another Hollywood bastardization
12 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
If you've ever seen the movie "Beetlejuise", and remember what the yuppies did to the house....

This is what Hollywood & NBC did to this classic.

A jive-talking elf? a techno heatmiser/snowmiser song, HM/SM turned into pimps complete with trashy girls, Santacorp ala trump......

All this to what was originally a kids movie???? NBC, the producer, AND the writers should all be sued - for violating the Geneva convention in regards to torture. And that is what this movie was "Re-imagined" into my friends - PURE TORTURE! Many people that saw it wound up turning it off by the 30 minute mark. :( I personally would suggest action be taken against NBC - by it a petition, boycott, or flooding their mailroom with angry letters.

NBC wanted to get rid of it!
23 January 2006
Warning: Spoilers
As every fans knows by now, this series is being canceled. WHY? Quote: "ratings were falling in it's Sunday time slot vs wed.'s" They moved it to Sunday, the ratings started to fall, if they wanted to keep it 1 - they wouldn't have moved it, 2 - having moved it they COULD have moved it back.

Yes, this is/was a good show! Unfortunately, they will probably replace it with another "Law & Order" series or rerun. Do we REALLY need over 8 hours of L & O each week? GIVE US VARIETY!

I suggest that if you liked this show, email NBC and b**** them out for deliberately setting it into a time they knew would cause it to fail in.

Excellent SHOW, crappy DVD set :(
1 November 2005
Like a lot of fans of SAAB, both myself and a friend each got this show through Best Buy. WERE WE EVER TICKED! His set had production errors on the first disc - the picture would freeze, then jump past entire scenes, and the macro vision on mine is SO heavy that I can't watch the set I bought! So far 20th century fox has avoided my complaints on the copy protection - which means more than likely I just wasted $42.00!

If the companies keep encoding the macro vision this heavily, they will not only lose sales but drive people to purchase bootlegs over official releases! After all, would YOU buy something knowing that you couldn't watch it?

FANS OF THE WORLD! UNITE AGAINST MACRO VISION!

JoA - any excuse to bash
1 July 2005
I simply DO NOT BELIEVE how people can watch 5 minutes of one episode (Or worse - not watch any episodes) and then leave a negative commentary about it! And NO - I am NOT a JoA fanatic, just someone who watched off and on through two seasons. *****anyone who has seen more than 5 minutes of this show would clearly see that the negative comments posted in here are for the most part TOTALLY inaccurate, to the point where you wonder if they were watching something entirely different.*****

I do agree on one point however:I TOO am surprised it lasted as long as it did, not because it was bad - but because it was actually an intelligent program. And AS YOU KNOW, shows in that category always die an early death.

And now, to translate into a language that those who left negatives should understand: "Yer mother was a hamster, and yer father smelt of elderberries! Now go away, or I shall be forced to taunt you a second time!" (HAD to say it :)

Warner Brothers STICKS it to the viewers AGAIN!
1 July 2005
Have you noticed that WB seems to axe any show that seems to be doing well? this, Brats of the lost nebula, Birds Of Prey - all yanked prematurely(BOP was in the top 5 when it was pulled and replaced with a lesser program). -------------- EMERGENCY this was not - it was not SUPPOSED to be. Unlike Emergency where everybody lived happily ever after, RESCUE 77 seemed to stick more closely to actual conditions and day to day stuff. The inventiveness in saving a life when you do not have what you need, the pain when despite your best efforts the one you are trying to save dies, and yes - even the pranks and jokes that go on in a firehouse(I know - I grew up in one).

But at least i can watch it on tape, so SMEG OFF Warner Brothers! :P

WB thinks theY're GOD!

Warner Brothers SUCKS! this sounded like it would be a good show, yet the almighty Warners killed it after showing only 1 episode!

5 children from different planets get drawn to a mysterious planetoid, which becomes their base as they try and find their families - while fighting off invaders bent on destroying everything in their way. In a description of one of the characters I read, the creator(Dan Clark) said the following: "Triply looks like pippi longstocking with sass. She reacts to the separation from her family by going all warrior. Everything she touches is like My little pony meets Battlechick" Just picture that - she's playing with an MLP toy, then suddenly gets an impish grin and pulls out a HULK HOGAN figure to BODYSLAM the MLP! (rofl) IDIOTS! they killed this, Birds Of Prey, Rescue 77 without really giving them a chance!

For all the shows they have canned before their time, to Warner Brothers i say "**** THE FROG!" (and I WISH I could find episode(s) of this.)

worth watching, better than what's on now!
24 November 2004
The feel of how this show was filmed reminds me of "the tomorrow people". Group of young cadets let curiosity get the better of them and sneak aboard a strange alien space cruiser. Suddenly, they find themselves in unknown space, trying to get home while battling a race called the "spung". Like most good shows however, it died too soon because most viewers prefer "stupid-vision"(aka "reality shows").

I at least would very much like to see this series released on DVD, or for some other station(COUGH~independent~COUGH)to broacast this show on the air again. Barring that, if I could gain permission to do so - I would start a LPTV and broadcast it myself! Shows like this should NOT be allowed to drift into obscurity!
