Senior Year (2022)
Wanted to like it
When I saw the trailer it made me think of the teen movies from the 90s so I decided to watch it. It tried to be like that but also decided to make fun of the current world we are living in...or did it? At first I thought all the conversations about what can and cant be said today. The way they dressed, acted, lived, socialized etc seemed to be as if they were making fun of it all but then they kept going with it as if it was the right way to go and a good thing to live how society have become.
As for Rebel Wilson, its like she has waited her whole life to be the star of a movie where she was the hot cheerleader so they made this because it took too long for her to become that....which watching this is cringe worthy. She does have a huge transformation but still cant play these roles or wear the cheer uniforms or dresses or even jeans. Yes I know shes supposed to be a 37 year old so shes not supposed to be perfect but she looks like a mother of 5 who is trying to squeeze in to todays fashions but instead looks like shes wearing mom jeans and has the mom pouch.
There were some funny scenes but overall nothing great. Giving it a 3 is generous.
Bel-Air (2022)
Why not just create a brand new show?
Everything about this show is bad. First off can they please stop using the N word especially if you expect the masses to watch but then get mad when they use it. You cant try to push something as cool, hip or down and then expect people to not copy!
This show is such a joke of itself. The actor they cast to play Will would be a better casted actor if it was an exact same copy of the original. He is too goofy to be taken serious as a tough street kid from Philly! In all seriousness this actor is not who they are trying to make him out to be. He is not believable in this role at all!
The none stop trying to be street lingo and actions by almost everyone is so phony and so over the top. Every time these phrases and words are used to sound cool or street or have that type of lingo sounds so off putting coming out of their mouths. Its almost as if none of them ever spoke like that before in their lives in the real world.
Trying to take the original which was a comedy and for fun and then change it to this serious drama about growing up street makes no sense. Why not create a new show with new character and new names? None of the actors fit their parts. You cant take Uncle Phil who was a big out of shape man and switch him in to this strong and in shape man.
The narrative of the show needs to stop being about blaming a system, maybe its time to take responsibility for your own actions. The people in Philly acting hard, with guns, selling drugs and doing nothing but hanging on the corner or riding off-street quads all over philly illegally making it hard on people trying to do better. Thats not a system those are all choices. The sooner people change themselves the sooner things change for you!
This should be cancelled now but because its already filmed and streaming only, they will let the 1st season air and then there will be no season 2!
Promised Land (2022)
Reminds me of the show Cane
Reminds me of the show Cane but a family in the wine industry rather than sugar! Started out a little confusing but just like the premiere of " this is us" they give you a little twist which brings a lot of it together. Now that I see where they are going I want to see more. Overall I like the cast. Always liked the actor who plays Joe and love the actresses who play his oldest daughter and his ex wife. I think this show has a lot of potential. Hopefully the network gives it a chance.
The Royal Treatment (2022)
Not a classic but a fun family movie
If you're looking for the next movie classic this isnt it. Besides the over exaggerated ny Italian accents the movie was enjoyable. Nothing new nothing we haven't seen before but definitely worth watching for date night or have something to watch other than reruns.
The Lost Symbol (2021)
Book was so much better
The book was so good I couldnt wait for a movie to be made. Then for some reason all the deals fell through and this sat around for a long time until now...What a mistake. Making this a tv show created too much not needed nonsense and really isnt keeping it true to the book. This could have been the best of all the books if made right but in my opinion it failed just about everywhere. Every character was casted wrong and the script failed as well.
The Guilty (2021)
Good but shows how men are treated
I enjoyed it. I like movies like this that take place in one location and most of the acting is done without seeing the actors. If they can pull off the emotion without seeing them and without over acting then they did well and most did great.
My problem with this movie is a societal one and how men and women are treated. When he thought the husband abducted her and killed their son he talked down to him, treated him terribly and told him he deserved to be executed for what he had done! As soon as the truth came out and he found out in fact it was the woman/mother who possibly killed her son he spoke to her with respect and very caring. Didnt tell her she deserved to be in jail in fact he wanted to get her help. Never once cared if the father had mental issues and maybe needed help! Nope, instantly wanted him to pay for his crimes. Yet the wife he wanted to help her and didnt want her to do any harm to herself.
Proving once again there is no help, care or understanding for men at all. Its sad. Man or woman commit same crimes and some how the man always gets harsher sentencing and women can play victim and get away with it.
The Voyeurs (2021)
I can't listen to his voice
I watched about 15 minutes of this and had to turn it off. Thomas's voice was so distracting it made the movie unwatchable.
