The Northman (2022)
Love this movie!
This movie is a gem of 2022! The plot is nothing new and its ending twist is also a kind of expected. However, this is old good movie making. The cinematography is just spectacular. The story building is very well delivered and I love that the edge between what is real and what is not is never delivered, leaving it fully to your own imagination and perception. I also like very much there was no necessary harsh scenes with animals (the wolves were CGI, the other animals killing scenes were very indirect, not showing much... I don't need this in movies and for us concerned of animals well being while shooting, this is definitely a good sign!) The actors were very well picked and all of them delivered good work. In a very long time, this is finally a movie, I will gladly return to watch again!
Hwan Hon (2022)
I don't know what to say
I liked S01. The execution of the show was well done, actors amazing, so I could even forgive some weak parts in writing. I would be even fine with the ending...If they brought Jung So Min back!!! But that's not a case. S02 is rushed, it has plenty of plot holes and there are plenty of scenes which simply do not go along with the rules set up in S01. The cinematographic part (but cut!) is doing well and actors are amazing. But again, I would expect, as we had a possibility to see Jin Buyon's adult body through all S01, that instead of the child, they make cameo of Jung So Min. As I said, I would be willing to forgive all that sloppy writing and even change of the main FL, but this...It totally spoiled whole show for me.
The White Lotus: Arrivederci (2022)
Disappointing finale
Despite heavy criticism all around about this new season, I really enjoyed it. Until the last episode. The finale is simply disappointing. It almost felt like many storylines were there for nothing. The "artisticly open"scenes left for imagination doesn't work for me here, especially in context of the story telling until now. The last episode is lacking in so many ways, but mainly it doesn't have the drive of previous ones and frankly, I was even bored. Seeing the comment of the author that even he himself isn't sure what was meant by that all isn't really assuring...and sorry, but killing Tanya, that was definitely big mistake...she could have been such a great link between all seasons of WL and will be greatly missing in the 3rd season...I feel this was a lost opportunity to connect to the success of the amazing original season....
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
I had fun!
I loved Ragnarok, this movie is not so good, but it is not bad. Just different. I am tired of Marvel movies, but Thor is the only one I never skip. Knowing some other Taika Waititi projects and even previous movie, this one was so him. The plot wasn't anything special, but they delivered some fun. I totally died seeing Russel Crowe as Zeus! That was a brilliant scene! Definitely would deserve a separate movie! Some of the dialogues were cheesy, some effects were cheap, Christian Bale's villain weird, comedy doesn't suit Natalie Portman at all, but... Chris Hemsworth was brilliant, loved the scenes with annoyed Guardians, Korg is a great additional character and the goats? Loved that! I would definitely rewatch some scenes. However, I totally understand that if you are fan of classic Marvel and Thor, you will probably not like this.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Not bad as everyone says
Honestly, the reviews giving extreme low rating are absolutely biased. The movie is not bad. It is not the best movie, but it is not unwatchable.
I didn't read any synopsis or watched the trailer, I knew the title only because of the "spit" and assumed it is a movie drama about suburban marriage and I got pretty surprised by an actual plot. The cinematography, besides a few weird cuts and camera angles, is pretty decent. Florence Pugh is definitely lead of the show, however, I had a feeling, I am watching Midsommar again, not that she wasn't good, but the acting was too identical. Harry Styles was surprisingly good, I do not understand the criticism towards him, I don't think Shia would do better, the role simply doesn't have more to offer. Chris Pine as a villain was a good choice, he always gives me more villain role vibes, it simply suits him better.
I didn't mind the open ending, but I was pretty bothered by some things not being explained. Like someone wrote here earlier, this is decent movie episode of Black Mirror or Outer Limits heavily inspired by The Stepford Wives and it doesn't deserve all the criticism is receiving.
House of the Dragon (2022)
Disappointing
This is visually beautiful, but empty to the story and characters. First, I do not understand why was chosen this part of GoT world for a spin off. I would be much more interested how the Targaryens got to have dragons than this...Second, all the characters are appearing and disappearing at the same time. There is no time to develop any kind of sympathy or antipathy against them. Not interesting plot. It's shallow and feels weird to watch. It's almost like HBO rehired Dumb&Dumber again... And that recasting? What is that for? I mean, new actors are just fine in their roles, but why? Why there is a change in Rhaenyra, Laena, Alicent and Laenor and Ser Criston Cole remains same? I mean Robert DeNiro can play same character through all age in The Irishman and here is the problem with 10 years gap? I continue to watch just because of the nostalgy to the original series, but I am deeply disappointed.
The Next 365 Days (2022)
Press fast forward and you can make it alive!
As the previous two movies, I kept pressing forward every second minute, otherwise I would never forgive myself to dedicate to this the full screen time. This movie (and the others two as well) is painful to watch...From the story to the non-existent or super over "acting" (Michele Morone can thank God that at least he has looks!) At this point, I would just hire some porn actors, the result would be the same, maybe better. The storyplot (if we can call it so) is worse than any turkish telenovela which the Polish author probably got inspired by. It's a garbage and honestly, is Netflix still really wondering why they are loosing subscribers?
The Gray Man (2022)
Couldn't finish it...
I am sorry but this is somehow unwatchable...the similar story has been here million times, it's chaotic, it's boring and the characters are ehm...gray... The amount of filming locations being butchered by this movie is also fascinating. Prague has never played so many places at once... That french castle in Croatia was also fun...American filmmakers never disappoint...
Persuasion (2022)
Meh...
I will try to write a review and hopefully get post and will not be erased...
This is a classical novel. No fiction (like they like to say in Bridgerton). Why does cultural appropriation and respect doesn't work both ways? Let's be multiracial, but let's not be multiracial where it doesn't belong! Like in English higher society of 18. Or 19. Century. You want a multiracial version? Place the story in modern times. I am tired of historical facts being butchered by wokeness.
If I place this aside and with fact I haven't read this particular Jane Austen's novel, the script is pretty week, I would even say boring. Dakota Johnson is doing a solid job with what she got (and it wasn't much). Henry Golding, Niki Amuka Bird, Richard E. Grand are doing what they can as well...Cosmo Jarvis is a miscast by my opinion.... I still think whether there was a try to act or this is how his face stays all the time...No idea...Breaking the 4th wall didn't disturb me so much as making a main character an alcoholic...If I don't count the plank story, the cinematography is pretty decent.
With all above, this is definitely not worth to spend a time to watch unless you plant to have it as a background while doing something else. There are much better classical versions.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Worth to try...
I need to say, the S1 started interesting, continued with incoherent story line and ended with promising season finale. So I was waiting what the S2 will bring...And...so far so good. I am enjoying it and it hooked me up. It's a decent sci-fi playing with questions of humanity and its belief, good acting (but T. Fimmel who obviously forgot himself in role of Ragnar) and very nice cinematography. It's not perfection, but it's interesting.
Euphoria: All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name (2022)
Disappointing
It feels like to watch completely different series to S1. In S1 finale I stayed with mouth open, in this one, I was constantly checking a time for it to end. Besides first 2 episodes, this season didn't get me. Despite there are some really awesome scenes and acting, it didn't bring nothing new since its half and story kept repeating same all over. And there was material to make a story, yet some characters didn't get a chance to shine properly (Kat)or they completely disappeared (McKay). Last two episodes (despite very nice cinematography)? I though the theater was a filler before its grand finale, but it continued to the end. I will give Euphoria still a chance in S3, but if it doesn't jump on its original vibe, I won't continue to watch it.
Euphoria: The Theater and Its Double (2022)
Not getting there with S2
Despite this episode was visually and creatively good, it is plot empty... I am missing the vibe I got after seeing episodes of first season... It feels like watching entirely different show...I am not enjoying this so much...
I Am Georgina (2022)
Shallow and unnecessary
I watched first 20 min, read several commentaries and articles describing and promoting particular parts of this "documentary" and decided to cut it off.
Nothing agains CR7, he is a wonderful athlete, and also does a lot good things with his money and by that I mean charities in comparison with other people earning same amount of money he does...And nothing against her as his partner. But do we really need to see this? Besides that, she is nobody.
I don't know if Ronaldo paid Netflix to make this to keep her entertained or why this actually happened, but this is very forced try to persuade the others: coming from humble origins; being like anybody else, just with money; ... but yet showing off luxury lifestyle...
She is a housewife and mother to CR7 kids. But the kids are most of the times with sitters, so...Oh yeah, and she's an influencer (wonder why?) If she ran at least some charity and the show showed her worked around that, that could have been interesting. Or her being blessed with such a life trying to change the world somehow around her. But watching her spending money and showing off her wealth and "suffering" the consequences of life like this? Yes, everything has pros and cons, but please...
This is just showing how shallow, superficial and unnecessary this is. Reminds me of Kardashians...I would thousand times appreciate more if Netflix made another show about Ronaldo because he is the one who has a lot to offer... And please, let's stop make the people like her important...
Euphoria: You Who Cannot See, Think of Those Who Can (2022)
Not really enjoying this...
I don't know what happened, but after two really strong episodes of the new season, this is really getting off and not in a good way...I didn't enjoy last two episodes at all...hope it will jump again back on track, because this is a wrong direction...
Little Women (2019)
Expected better
This is not a bad movie, but I think they screwed it in cuts. Especially, in many scenes, you can feel, they had more material and probably to make length of the movie more acceptable, they cut it here and there. Unfortunately, the result is shallow and many story lines are not really persuading. If I compare the version with Winona Ryder, where the characters interact together and you understand why they have this and that feeling, in the new version, it simply doesn't click despite good filmmaking and solid acting ensemble and performance. It is not a really bad movie, but I expected at least better than a previous version.
Glória (2021)
Not bad, but not good...
Despite being slow, at the beginning it was promising, but unfortunately it didn't fulfill the potential. Don't take me wrong, cinematography is perfect, but the story and its characters are kind of flat. Despite solid acting, especially the lead role is not well built and doesn't bring up any emotions at all, but most of the time just questions why? Some side stories are catchy (Ramiro&Sofia - problem of home violence, Carolina and women's fate at the time, Fernando - the experience of a war of somebody's else, ...) But this whole espionage wrap presented as a masterplan at the end? Desculpem, mas nao...aka sorry, but no...
Dune (2021)
Amazing opening
Honestly, I do not understand bad reviews for this movie. It is visually perfect, storytelling is exactly how I would expect it, music is breathtaking and it has solid acting ensemble. Everyone should realize how complex the original story is and we have been served just beginning of it. Remember, how it felt when Fellowship of The Ring happened. This is such a fresh feeling after that flood of never-ending comic story repeating cinematographic pollution which is probably the reason why everybody is complaining that this is slow story build up. People stop to be used to deep stories and stopped to be patient. I want more movies like this and I can't wait for other chapters. Dennis Villeneuve and his team did a great job!
Succession (2018)
A gem
This series has no flaws. It has a story (great and credible story line), good characters building and great cinematography and acting. It will absolutely hook you up.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Solid 1st half, rest boring and predictable
The first episodes were definitely hooking and story and characters were well built and interesting. But the second half got really boring and predictable. Full of of really stupid situations, non-logical story telling and absolute non-sense actions of many characters which kind of ruined it. Also, the open ending for second season...? Just finished it because...But many times, I was just in mood to turn it off...
Physical (2021)
Absolutely entertaining!
This show is great! It's different and it's fun! Apple TV and its series sets the standard of the good quality content really high! Absolutely recommended!
Shadow and Bone (2021)
Not fulfilled potential
The series looks interesting, however, I cannot stand the poor character building and shallow story telling. Firstly, the main character is totally not likable and super annoying. The actress with her poor performance also doesn't help much. Same stands for Mal. The story building is fast, lacks logic or explanations, everything is happening suddenly right away without building a momentum and mostly unnecessarily (many characters are introduced to be killed in next 5 minutes in some "shocking" scene). But not all is bad, I like very much the smuggling trio, they have good storyline and dialogues and actor playing Jesper is absolutely amazing and I hope to see him more! I also like very much Ben Barns performance, he is kind of saving what he can. The conclusion for me is a same feeling I had after D&D started to write GOT purely on their own, fast, shallowly presented story with many negative and some positive moments. It is watchable though, but don't rise your expectations much.
Rebecca (2020)
Meeh
This movie and its plot looks very promising and I would say first half an hour is very well built and done. I also like very much movie's performance (awesome costumes, scenery, camera, actors, music). However, it all goes away with second part. So much character and plot building to be just thrown away. I didn't read the novel, but I was personally really disappointed. So many questions placed but not answered. If Max hated Rebekka so much, why to keep everything just to remember her? Why to still have Mrs.Danvers around? Why he is sleepwalking into their former bedroom? Whose body was the body Max indentified for the first time? What about that freak in the cottage? And I can continue all day long.... Maybe if they focused the story on its main plot instead of trying to make it more mysterious and more twisted, it could have been awesome.
30 Monedas (2020)
Yes!
This is so bad, that is actually good! I just can't stop laughing. 10 stars as it is super entertaining! It's "The Room" style with telenovela spice on the top!
Warrior (2019)
Good show to cut the time with
It is not the best show I have ever seen, but it is entertaining. The storyline makes more or less sense and there are pretty cool martial art scenes. The characters are quite nicely written, however I wish they wouldn't do so many storylines, it would help a story itself to be more consistent. Also, the filling episodes are quite unnecessary. Otherwise, this show is worth to try.
The Flight Attendant (2020)
If you are smart, do not watch this garbage...
I really do not understand all good reviews here, but this series is insulting basic intelligence. I was really trying to give it a chance, but watching continuously in every episode same s***, aka drunk promiscuous stupid blond who happened to be a flight attendant doing absolutely non-logical decisions and she and other characters doing things which doesn't make even a small bit of sense? And it is not getting better! Kaley Cuoco in her best role ever? Why? She is playing the same blond dummy like in BBT... Only good thing on this? Soundtrack and opening titles. The rest? Garbage!
