Lara Logan Has No Agenda: Border Crisis - Transformation of the Cartels (2020)
Eye Opening
Filmed in Texas and Mexico, this documentary covers all aspects of the situation on the southern border of the United States. Being a Texan from the south central part of the state, I have been well aware of the lawlessness along the border and in Mexico for most of my life. I really don't think people in other parts of the country have the slightest idea of the carnage that threatens to spill over into the rest of the country, but they need to be informed. This very well done documentary is somethng everyone should see.
Ms. Logan is an excellent reporter, and has a lot of heart and compassion, covering the plight of the victims of smuggling and human trafficking in such a way that separates this human crisis from the political rhetoric on both sides of the aisle. The episode with the church and people in Roma, Texas, really touched my heart and caused me to question my own assumptions.
There's a lot of evil going on in Mexico, and this documentary shows the resulting carnage in all it's graphic horror. And it's necessary. This stuff has been going on for decades, as any Texan who's lived down here for that long can tell you. People need to get slapped upside the head with a big fat reality sandwich, and that's the purpose.
The only thing that I would like to have seen is some investigative reporting done on exactly who or what was behind the immigrant crisis of 2017-18. I hardly think the hundreds of thousands of people in various South American countries just simultaneously decided to up and head to the United States. Someone or some organization was certainly behind it, and they certainly did not have humanitarian motives.
The Other Woman (2014)
Better than expected
It was the day after Christmas, and I wanted something light and funny. This was perfect for that. The hubby didn't like it, but oh well.
American Horror Story: Camp Redwood (2019)
Could only watch half of this
If you like a good, creepy and suspenseful story, then you won't like this. Bad acting. Cheesy plot. Whoever wrote this must not have lived through the 1980s, because the characters are just over-the-top badly acted caricatures. Coven was probably the best season, with the other early episodes being good as well. Hotel was so nasty I wouldn't watch it. Everything else has been hit and miss, mostly miss.

Avenging Angelo (2002)
Not the worst I've seen
This is a cute, fluffy date movie. Sort of. I think Stallone did a very good job acting here. I like him better in this than in his typical roles, including Rambo. The music in this is pleasant.
Now for the reason it didn't get a higher rating by me: Madeleine Stowe was overacting, and it was very grating. I wondered if Stallone was completely acting when he said she was causing him migraines.
It was a silly movie, with more than a few stupid episodes of lame dialogue.
Stranger Things (2016)
I'M SICK OF HAVING MY INTELLIGENCE INSULTED
I normally don't review shows, but I'm a little miffed at having wasted 8 hours of my life on season 3. So I'm going to vent.
I generally quit watching most TV shows and movies because of the banal plots, politically correct platitudes and disdain the industry shows toward their audiences. However, I stumbled upon the first season and thought it was fantastic. Season 2 was decent, but this recent season reminded me why I quit watching most stuff Hollywood vomits out of itself these days.
All the other negative reviews here of season 3 are spot on, and echo my sentiments. I especially found the lesbian reference completely unnecessary, as was all the heavy-handed product placement. Winona Ryder falling in love again, only to lose him in a really stupid contrivance where she had to actually kill him off to save the world was just ridiculous. Sheesh!
I found the stupid "Neverending Story" duet to be dumb, but upon further thought, maybe the writers were making a some sort of a wry statement about this particular story never ending. Oh, but it did end...for me!
The teaser for season 4 (if Netflix manages to stay afloat) was a promise of more Russian stupidity. There was even a hint that maybe, just maybe, the sheriff isn't dead after all. Somehow they managed to spirit one of the monsters away to Kamchatka of all places. Face palm!
