The Flash: A New World, Part 4: Finale (2023)
Fast paced & extremely rushed finale (pun intended, who cares?)
So, the Flash is over, what can i say? I've been watching this show since 2015 when S2 was airing, and i instantly fell in love with it. This show used to have so much heart and so well planned about what they wanted to show us. The characters were likable and the story was entertaining. 8 years later we stand in front of the series finale, our hero it's facing cobalt blue, the toughest guy ever, and he's so powerful that he can bring the past negative force avatars (reverse flash, zoom, savitar, godspeed) just to defeat once and for all the scarlet speedster.
This attempt to bring back the old villains was so badly done, like there's non a single explanation of how they are back, what are the rules about it, and just to be worse, they were so easily defeated by team flash, the NON SPEEDSTERS TEAM FLASH. Damn, Cecile extended her arms and somehow defeated godspeed? Nora just phaced her belly not her entire body while savitar stabbed her? And plus, Nora barely stabbed him back and kinda killed him? Zoom was taken down by Khione with some uno reverse card? And bringing them back for what? Just for a cheap fan service that lasted less than five minute? Man that truly pissed me off, that was the worst battle of any series finale i could watch. After that i kinda liked the episode, i think it made sense that good and evil must coexist so there's no more violence, and Grant Gustin probably made his best performance of the show, that guy gave his best even knowing that the show wasn't what it was once. But again, the last villain was introduced on the last 4 episodes of the show, leaving 0 development for him and the plot of the season, and making us hold on what Eddie was in season 1, yup, that same season that ended 8 years ago.
I have to be fair tho, the last 15 minutes were good, that whole party with everyone gathered around, Joe proposing to Cecile, Barry making that monologue from the pilot but talking to Nora, and running on the same lane from the pilot was very touching and heartwarming, i almost cried.
But that's it, this finale was a 4/10 (4 just for the last 15 minutes)
This season was 2/10 (just two good episodes)
And this whole show was a 4.5/10, just two unbelievable season, then two ok seasons, then downhill till the end.
I don't think I'll miss this, but somehow i think I'll do, the flash is my favorite DC character, and I'll kinda miss this show, or at least I'll miss hating it because of how bad it turned to be something that was soooo good.
The Flash: A New World, Part 2: The Blues (2023)
To good to have 2 good episodes in row
After having probably the 2 best episodes since S2, it was too good to believe that we would have a third. Now don't get me wrong, this episode was ok, but this is the thing, WE HAVE TWO EPISODES LEFT UNTIL THE SERIES FINALE.
This episode would have been a great build up for what's coming next, fot the final big baddie that our hero must face. But no, we still have no idea who the villain is, we don't know what motivates him, what is his face, or whatever. For some reason Eddie's back and the show lacks to explain the audience how the hell he's back, and it's explanation was kinda lame, too cheap if you ask me. The whole cobalt vessel isn't well explained, somehow Khione it's a goddess? There's too many things going on, and the show is trying to wrap up every story on barely two episodes left, not to mention as well that Iris is on labor.
This season had a five-episodes first arc, and then three unnecessary episodes with no point to the final arc, and now this series is running (no pun intended) to finish up everything like there's a lot of time. By this time Barry would have to know who cobalt blue is, that Eddie is alive, maybe even be against the wall trapped with one last ace up his sleeve. But no, there's too many going on and not enough time to wrap things up.
Sadly tho, this final arc of the series is actually good, and I've enjoyed it, but still, Eric Wallace somehow decided that we need some time loop episode, Cecile loosing a train and Chester with Allegra figuring out if they love each other.
I hope this two last episodes can conclude in a very satisfying way.
Superman & Lois: Forever and Always (2023)
Bruno becoming my favorite villain
Ok, this episode was something else. It's so good when a villain has a powerful motivation to be the bad guy, because we can empathize with him and makes us the audience to have a moral discussion about what's right and wrong. Bruno it's not a villain at all, he's just an antagonist that wants the best to his neighborhood and his lover, and to do so he has to go the wrong way. Still, he is a loving husband, a loving father and a man who stood up for Hob's Bay.
On the other side there's Superman, the definition of hope and doing right. I love how Clark wouldn't use kryponian tec to cure Lois because that means that it wouldn't be fair to keep it only to them, and wouldn't be safe to share it to the world. This season it's so into moral and ethics between our hero and rhe villain around the same topic: "my wife has cancer".
I don't get why many people don't like this season because of the drama, when this show it's called Superman AND Lois.
While season 1 and 2 focused on how power can Superman be, and how even more powerful he most become to defeat Tal-Rho and Alison, this whole season it's focused on the human side of Lois and how vulnerable everyone can be, plus how powerless Clark is because cancer cannot be defeated with muscle and laser beams.
I want Lois to get over with cancer, and i want Bruno to save his wife although his ways are wrong.
Incredible season, love this show soooo much.
PD: it was so hard to watch Lois apologizing even when she was right.
PD2: Matteo being Bruno's son was a twist i didn't expect.
The Flash: A New World, Part 1: Reunions (2023)
So they are capable to making this?
I gotta say it tho, this episode was wild in every sense. We finally saw the POV of the og flash from S1ep1, and it was brilliant. After nine 9 seasons we saw Barry got stuck on his suffer from his parents death, but now he embraces that pain because he knows that everything led to this point, and i loved it so much. Barry it's the hero by wanting to save his worst enemy even when he wanted to kill him and eventually kills his mom. Now he's a mature and wise flash, so he's the one to stop S2 Barry from making flashpoint.
Seeing Barry hang out with his parents one last time was so heartwarming, and Grant Gustin delivers a wonderful performance, one we having seeing and a while.
This episode it's brilliant in every single way, i was so surprised that Eric Wallace got to write and direct this, but it pisses me off, because we had to wait 8 long and pointless episodes to have this last arc. Maybe im not a writer, but i mean, i can tell that the whole Ryan/red death arc was disappointing, and then we had 3 filler episodes leading to nowhere. But after a few weeks of break they just gave us the best flash content in years, and i mean yeaaars. Why the wait? Why the effort in making us waste time while this season could have been the best thing ever?
Anyway, i truly hope that this last 3 episodes will be nuts and will make us say farewell to our favorite scarlet speedster. Kudos to the team!
Superman & Lois: Head On (2023)
Wtf with this comment section?
I've been a S&L fan since day 1. And of the things i love the most about this show is it's human side. This show it's awesome because it never needed o meant to show superman kicking ass every 10 minutes, but to show a great written character driven story. I actually don't care if i don't see superman as long as the clark family have a great development. This episode was about love and loss, and now each character it's better than before. Somewhere somehow we will have some good kick-ass fighting scene and Superman defeating the baddie, but for now let's enjoy how great this characters are.
Amazing and wholesome episode!
The Flash: Heart of the Matter, Part 2 (2021)
The flash is back and i hope he stays that way for ever
Honestly tho, i haven't seen an amazing episode since season 2, and that was 5 years ago. Full of action, full of epic moments, nice action FREAKING LIGHTING SABER FIGHT! And a sincere pure emotional moment, I've been one of the most who criticize Candice Patton acting, but she nailed it, and i loved it.
Having barry, Jay, Bart, Nora, SF Nora and even Iris as the flash was so awesome.
This is what the flash needed.
