The Green Veil (2024– )

Good story, bad production.
22 May 2024
The only thing good about this series was a good story. Let's not confuse concept with actual writing, because the basic general concept was good and the writers ruined it. The scene play, directing, and overall writing was elementary, and gave the aesthetic of a high school senior project. The actors were constantly indicating, and generally just not convincing. The score and audio was off timing and not good selection. The narrative was too generic and very lazy. I continued to watch just to give the show the benifit of the doubt, expecting some great end, ignoring all the mistakes and stereotype cheap television errors. Realistically, the show was a good way to expose the terrible tragedy that is abuse and mistreatment of indigenous cultures, and how United States history continues to cover up these atrocities. The audio and sound selections might have genuinely ruined the movie above all else. The acting, the pathetic script, lack of proper psychological accuracy, aggressive mid-stereotyping, overall unprofessional production, Its surprising this series was even made.

Great acting, bad production
25 March 2024
Gyllenhall and McGregor were shining stars, a dynamic duo performing a sociopathic waltz. The acting was above and beyond, full hearted character portrayal and emotion displayed. The cinematography was elementary, like a film producer with a new lens they are excited to try out, but it really isn't right for the scene. Possibly some sales pitch about the style of camera work being "the new trend" but half way through the movie I had enough of the terrible angles and poor direction. The script was also not great, really cheesy amateur "tv" stereotype foreshadowing, it seemed like the writers were baiting the audience to feel informed and then able to figure out what's going on, like a psychological scheme to release brain chemicals haha without getting to far off track, the script made the actors "indicate" they were acting, frequently. The special effects were very lazy AI reminding me of the 90's computer animations. There was a lot of bad directing overall, by the end of the film I wondered if Jake was simply ready to end the movie. I imagined the producer just going "this is garbage" like 3/4 through and just being like how did I not see how terrible I was making this movie. Jake and Conner really saved the film, at which point I was watching Jake and Connor not what ever was happening in the story, and without them this movie would be really boring and quite amateur.

the worst of 2023, maybe all time
9 November 2023
This movie is two thumbs way down. The acting is atrocious, defining complex levels of unappealing bore, an absolutely dull and lazy storyline, and unprofessional exposure of amateur filmmaking, lacking any form of validation to have been even completed as a project. This embarrassing display fantasizes society's least important and most shameful aspect... Simulated artificial identity and the extremely shallow social status superficially earned; this film is designed for lazy losers who want to stim off conceptual fake reality, aimed toward sad shallow societal outcasts, who confuse a lack of hard work and lack of accomplishments with self victimization. This is easily on the list of top 10 worst of all time. I will reiterate, it was the lousy storyline and script that ruined the film.

Terrible directing and sexism sank the ship
30 October 2023
It's hard to work with ancient Egypt sometimes, especially in 1999 when CGI was still developing. But the script was poorly written with sexism woven in throughout. Bad script, terribly cheesy lines, and alpha male innuendos, make the movie a challenge to get through. The plot was decent, but could have included more elaboration in egyptology beyond Hollywood stereotypes and hyper-stimulated action scenes. I think the director failed to recognize the natural silliness and innocence of Brendan Frasier. Generic and lazy audio production, score worthy of a museum elevator. If anything, this movie was a solid reminder of how far we have come as a society to stop treating women as they did in this movie.

Driver drove it off a cliff.
29 September 2023
The only thing qualifies Adam driver to be in this movie is that his last name is driver. Shailene Woodley saved the movie, but this movie is supposed to be about Enzo, honestly, the movie would've been better if she had just played Enzo she is such a fabulous actor on the other hand, it was really well directed and shot, fantastic script, really engaging and entertaining storyline, but the entire time I just kept thinking about Adam driver The person, and not Enzo Ferrari, and the movie just was not pleasant to watch. It's already a challenge to place a famous actor as the role of another famous icon, but plain, and simply it was Adam driver, who should've been able to act well enough to convince the audience.

Slow and lacking creativity
5 August 2023
I think people are confusing "a good story" with a good movie. If you want the story, go to a library and read about the real life events. No matter what moment you skip to in this movie, it's a bunch of guys in suits sitting around a table. There are a few scenes that have small exposure to something other than men in suits in an office or sitting in a meeting, but it was over hype on the actual production quality, lacking a variety in set design and story inclusion beyond repetitive generic settings. The acting is decent, it just felt like a lot was missing to capture the full spectrum of emercing the audience in the time period of the movie and other aspects that could have been filmed to create a more comprehensive image. I could have enjoyed this movie as much by simply reading the script.

Kevin Dillon saved the movie
5 August 2023
The movie was flooded with terrible dialogue and even worse, a terrible directing. This movie almost seems like there was no director, like when you show up for work and all the managers, assistant managers, and supervisors, called in sick that day so the base level employees just try to figure it out. Kevin Dillon kept the movie alive throughout. Mel Gibson is alright, seemingly too friendly for the role. Michael Welch killed the movie. His dialogue was too cheesy and just reminded me of an too experienced actor getting drunk and forgetting he's acting, consistently indicating. It was hard to watch as this actor absolutely ruined the movie. The script needed adjustments, the surprise reveal of the identity of the Michael Welch was too predictable, and then very "corny" how that ended on the roof. Once again I can't express how Kevin Dillon was the only reason why this movie is worth watching at all. It could have been much better with a different director, actor to replace Welch, and a better script/ending.

Impeccable acting. Script needed work.
17 December 2022
Billy Bob Thornton gives the character its spirit. He portrays the ultimate man, impossibly sharp and educator of the year. The toughest gym teacher of all time. If you take all of the previous characters of Sean William Scott, specifically Stiffler, they relate very closely to Thortons character. It was fun to watch ole stiffler play a more wholesome reverse role with a few lines like "why do you have to be such a dick all the time." The director must be a genius. The actors' incredible talent combined with the director' magic saved the movie. The script was terrible. The jokes and many of the lines were really terrible. The overall story was decent but scene by scene was inconsistent quality and poorly written sometimes. The under the bed scene was horrid. That scene should have been cut. I was ready to turn off the whole movie, possibly vomit.

gen Z - the whack attack
30 July 2022
This movie was strangely inaccurate, predictable to say the least. The script boring ass tasteless repeat of cheesy exaggerated gen Z stereotypes, probably someone young convinced someone old this movie was "with the times" 😂. They really push the boundaries of... imagination. Horribly inaccurate. Like if a computer analyzed pop-culture from 2018 and spit out a random script, then 4 years later they made it. Idek why I'm spending so much time ok this review.

Everyone blew it.
8 June 2022
I really liked the story. It highlights the reality of corporate greed holding back alternate energy solutions, and the need for serious changes to protect the future of our planet.

Sonya Cassidy had a very strange vibe I couldn't figure out. She was constantly indicating she was acting which was annoying while trying to enjoy the show. I have not seen her in other performances, only this show. After doing some research I found out she is an actress maybe from the UK, which might explain some of the unusual use of vocal tones and delivery of her lines.

Another thing I didn't like was the over dramatic forced sense of intense emotion. It was like seeing a lazy uninspired parent screaming at a child for asking a simple question in a grocery store type of cringe. Like geeze it's a child. They just wanted to know about freeze dried banana chips not breaking bottles in the juice isle.

The show seems to be written by someone who has a really damaged ago, maybe making a comeback movie to prove themself. The actors seem like they were on the same trajectory.

There are so many scenes where the "who hurt you" joke came into question issued toward the actors and directors.

At the end of the day, the show was ruined by the production value. I will watch until the end but really suffer through the cringy scriptwriting and directing.

By the 4th episode, the actors all seem to have a very similar acting profile with their character. This 90's hot girl attitude, snotty, disrespectful, arrogant, false sense of pride, bitter resentment towards being born like the drummer for a teenage emo band or a girl who keeps getting dumped.

Even the main character lost his original flow and started acting like the others.

The only actor who really came through was Jimmi Simpson.

As the show progressed it only got worse. The story really had potential. Chiwetel Ejiofor wasn't terrible. But it was certainly not his best. The directors, the writers, producers, someone somewhere must have really had a vision that was contradicting the cast and just got pushed too far and was not right for the show.

The story is really well developed
10 December 2021
Although some of the theatrics are a bit cliche, the movie has a really adventurous and creative storyline. I was very surprised to see the review was low. I have watched this movie more than once and it's one of my favorites.

Terrible, uncomfortable, and dull
10 December 2021
Reaching to connect to the audience through adult immaturity, this film paints the image of bad script writing and a dull storyline. It's not inspirational at all, or funny. There really is no point to this movie.
