Freaky Friday (2018)
People are scoring this way to low
Reviews on this film are way to low, It is actually really good. People need to go in with an open mind. This is actually an adaptation of the stage musical, it's not a remake of the other two films. The music is wonderful, composer Tom Kitt always writes beautiful scores. He wrote The Broadway hit Next To Normal and IF/Then With Idina Menzel. I'm disappointed they cut out a few really good songs from the stage show and replaced them with songs that aren't quite as good. The couple new songs sound as if they were thrown in the movie to add teen pop songs for the radio, probably for the younger audience that watches the disney channel. The cast is great especially Broadway Actress Heidi Blickenstaff who also played the mother in the stage show version. She has a wonderful singing voice and she plays the mother/daughter character perfect. The entire cast are great singers, which is rare for film musicals. There is usually one or two not so great singers (Russel Crowe/Emma Watson). I think a lot of people are being overly hard on this film because one it's a musical two it's nothing like the Lindsay lohan movie, which is a good thing. This film is very succesful at doing it's own thing. If you enjoy musicals then i highly recommend this film. This is 67% fresh on rotten tomatoes, which is pretty good. I don't understand why it's only 3.7 score on here. I'm guessing half the people didn't even watch it. The music is so good i recommend getting the soundtrack, Also get the stage version cast recording because it has all the songs that were cut from the film. "After all of this and everything" is my favorite song, it is on both soundtracks but the song ended up cut from the finished film which was a bad decision in my opinion. The song is the best song in the show and is also very moving.
