The Gold Rush (1925)
9/10
Timeless Comedy
24 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
The Gold Rush is one of the top 10 comedies of all time. I believe that the comedy genre is probably the only genre of movies that has not improved with sound. The flawless comedy portrayed in this movie will always be funny to whomever views it at anytime.

Like a lot of Chaplans films, it is filled with great scenes:

The wind blowing The Lone Prospector out of the door of the cabin.

Chaplan turning into a chicken while the hungry digger looks on eagerly.

Chaplain trying desperately to avoid the aim of the rifle which is bound to fire at anytime.

Chaplain eating his shoe because of a lack of food.

The dancing dinner rolls

The cabin rocking back and forth on the edge of the cliff as two characters try to balance it out.

Overall, many of the scenes are brilliantly directed and executed. One of Chaplains best films as well as one one the best comedies ever.
