Noting that this was a dubbed foreign (French) film and done on a low budget for the time, one has to look past the lack of cinema technology of the time and place, but just get lost in this magnificent performance as if it were, as it was... on stage. Gina Lollobrigida is captivating and very sensual for 1956 and Anthony Quinn's portrayal of Quasimodo is riveting; a truly academy award performance, but they just wouldn't give anybody two in one year and he already had on lock in as a supporting actor.

A funny entertaining drama with a lot of TEXAS in it.

I really enjoyed this movie when it was first shown and I'd like to see it again. Leslie Ann Warren is wonderful as Juanita. Of course the thrill is with Juanita getting to sing HER SONG with Willie Nelson! My only regret is that no one (to my knowledge) has recorded the title song.
