Priscilla (2023)
A feminine perspective
I don't understand why this movie has been criticised so much. This piece captured so much of Priscilla's experience with Elvis - her feminine, childish, yet mature reactions to being the girlfriend of one of the most desired men in the US, her idle moments waiting for him, her dedication and unexperienced perspective upon their relationship. Sophia Copolla knows how to attract and embody the feminine experience in a men's world. She did it so well with Marie Antoinette, she's done it perfectly with Priscilla. It's not a movie about Elvis, he is a part of her experience, through this piece we are in Priscilla's calm and shy world, disrupted by her first toxic relationship - which happened to be with the King of Rock n Roll. In this regard, Jacob Elrodi's talents could be seen in every scene - he is dedicated, gorgeous and knows how to illustrate the image of a toxic man (as seen in Euphoria), while still being charming and likable, just like rebel & misunderstood Elvis was. I actually started watching it because I think Elordy deserves all the praise and attention & hopefully this is going to be his year (along with another hit - Saltburn) - even if he's not the main character, he has an undeniable charm that can steal the show. So, don't miss out on this beautiful & intimate movie called "Priscilla" - you should trust Sophia Copolla, she knows how to make a good movie.
Healed (2023)
This movie is so poorly executed, but the plot is on another level
Do you know these types of low budget movies that you know they're bad from the 1st minute, but still intrigued to see what's the deal with it? Well, that's one of those movies and I sincerely advise you - do not watch it! It was poorly made, the actors are so bad - even during a scene where the main characters were supposed to sing and have fun it is so fake. Besides this, the plot is just so bad , that trust me... it's unwatchable - two women in a queer relationship go to a meditation retreat where there's just the two of them and the lady in charge is an evil hag who wants to make them not be gay. Yes, you read that well, more of a comedy than a thriller. Of course, it's got a happy ending where the good prevails. Such a boring fairytale. A hard pass, do not lose your time!
