Brawl in Cell Block 99: Beyond Fest Q&A (2017)
Vince is shockingly powerful
Every scene is well thought out. So much of micro planning can be seen and careful execution. This will change all you saw before of Vince in comedy roles. He is exactly the opposite. A movie of institutional injustice on insecured and not so well educated people in the US. A lot to learn about the business of running prisons in the USA and how they are hired as assassins by the criminal world.
Rose Plays Julie (2019)
Too slow, Too long
It was good in the beginning when it builds all the expectations but it does not pull it through as it progresses the end. There is some feminist sense of revenge but the ending is not convincing. The dialogues are weak and is not needed in many places. Could be watched on mute.
Candyman (2021)
Underwhelming
So i watched this in the UK. Nobody knowd about the older versoon here especially the younger generations. The characters in the movie are not well developed. The gay guy is simply not made much use of. Its not a creepy movie. There are not many summonings of the Candyman. The Gentrification angle for an art market is the only understandable thing.
Howl (2015)
Very entertaining
The dark nights are really well shown. Its creepy for sure. But its hard to get too soooky because there is mo more such woody plaves left in England at least not wild enough to inhabit warewolves. It was also quote comic in some places.
Sir (2018)
It drags.
The chemistry between the two protogonists is shown well and is performed well but its highly an unlikely scenario in a big city like Mumbai. The movie draged a lot. 30 minutes could have been chopped of. Life in the city moves really faster than has been shown here.
Vertical Limit (2000)
Female Action is Good
Horrible. The only good thing is 1) Scott Glenn ans 2) Female action. Too overly hollywoodie and too cheesy and unnecesarily dramatic and weak plot.
Clive James' Postcard from...: Bombay (1995)
The best of Bombay.
Clive James the genius. Although the city was already on its decline by the time Clive shot this with two major incidences such as 1993 bomb llnasts and 1996 communal riots. But i love how he starts the scene not from thee traditional Mumbai' Queen Necklace and the Marine Drive but from Mohammad Ali Road. Also, good if him to ask bold wuestions to Shobha De, a prominent socialite of the city and to put on her spot regarding the stark disparities in the city. Good to also show the good work done by Pavement Club and the hustler who made it in the city from being a shoe shine cleaner. A must watch. Dont miss where he keeps getting into broken taxis. Also, so loving to watch him when he asks the casting director to be on the bollywood set with India's heart of queens, Madhuri Dixit. The most important is to see how he captured the laid back rhythm of the city which is nomorenthe case. His narrative of the entrepreneurialism of the underdogs is brilliant.
Kurîpî: Itsuwari no rinjin (2016)
Waste of two hours
The plot is good but very badly executed. Many scenes were unnecessary. Easily one hour could have been chopped out. The main actor is not convincing. The other movie, Cure, by same director is a lot more better l. Thus one is easily avoidable.
The Lesson (2015)
Schools in rural England
The film is on how just don't bother going to schools in rural England. It Shows how due to austerity in UK schools are hiring unenthusiastic teachers and where kids bully their teachers and both of them are violent towards the end. There is some sense of justice but last one hour could have been reduced to 15 minutes.
