I cannot believe how many people hate this film so much. I think it is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The casting is the best since Toy Story: All of the actors are perfect for their role. The jokes run the gamut from gross stuff all the way to intelligent humor, plus there's plenty of parody, and slapstick. The funniest stuff though, is the subtle humor that one has to pay close attention to catch. Sure, it's not perfect. The in-your-face camera work does get a bit unpleasant after awhile, and nobody has any idea what the heck what the villain is really trying to do, but that's not really the point anyway. The point is it's a funny spoof on super heroes for all audiences. And at that, this flick succeeds completely. 8/10

AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movies: America's Greatest Movies
(1998 TV Movie)
great stuff, but...
6 April 2002
I thought that most of 100 Years, 100 Films was terrific. It was just the right length to keep one's attention. If you're planning on watching the entire 100 though, don't start with this because it gives away too much for a few of the pictures. And that song gets really annoying too. But its a fantastic documentary and worth a look for any film fan.
Young Frankenstein
(1974)
Mel Brooks is a genius.

How many comedy directors, when spoofing old horror movies, would make the flick in black and white? Well, one for sure. Mel Brooks's Young Frankenstein is a very funny ride from beginning to end. It's certainly not a movie along the lines of Space Balls or one of Mel's all out laugh fests, but it is hilarious in its own way. Oh yeah, and the flick's ending is one of the greatest in Cinema History.
Orange County
(2002)
not another teen movie
25 January 2002
Orange County could have been a flat retread of most teen flicks, but in fact it was fresh and hilariously funny. Ben Stiller's cameo was perfect because the comedy reminded me a lot of There's Something About Mary. This flick is definitely going to make Jack Black a star because he stole the show. Definitely check it out.
Godspell
(1973)
The Granddaddy of Terrible Movies
8 January 2002
This movie was a totally awful waste of time. It turned Jesus' life and teachings into a culty acid trip. I even like some of Schwartz's other work like Pippin (heck, I'm in it), but I will never (and I mean never - If the girlfriend ever wants to rent it, I'm finding a new girlfriend) sit through Godspell again. I'm not saying it was sacrilegious, but pray that you never have to watch this garbage.
