Planet of the Apes (2001)
cool movie
Throughout this movie there were things that i enjoyed and things that made me annoyed. I enjoyed the musical score to the movie; my props to danny elfman there. The plot was pretty sweet too...you'll love the ending. But what really started to get on my nervous was the lead monkey's voice...it was too monkey like, i really don't know how to explain it, but it got on my nerves. I highly recommend this movie, i gave it an 8.
Detroit Rock City (1999)
cool movie
This movie is sweet for rock loving teens like myself. (i'm almost 20 though, if that counts) There are nice comedic scenes, as well as just plain kick ass action. All i can say is that if you like rock and roll, and if you just wanna chill and watch a fun movie, check this one out...and i'm drunk right now...i gave it a 7.
Taxi Driver (1976)
how is this a good movie?
This movie took too long to portray a thesis that i am unsure of. I may know what the film was trying to get across, but i don't think its that big of a deal in the year 2001. Plus, the camera work wasn't too great because in one of the scenes i saw the camera man in the reflexion of a window. AND, the special effects were primitive. I just can't see how people like this movie so damn much. I gave it a 5.
Dave (1993)
feels good
Although i know very little about the US government, and assume that many events in this movie are not plausable, the entertainment value of this film make up for all of that. I don't know too much about acting either, but i felt that the actors in this flick did a great job portraying a feel good movie. Enjoy.
The Astronaut's Wife (1999)
better than expected
This movie never really got too slow, which was good, because the plot wasn't too original. Minor suspense here and there kept me going, although i just didn't dig charlize theron's haircut. I gave it a 6, maybe even a 7, i'll have to check my vote history, but it wasn't a bad flick.
200 Cigarettes (1999)
What the hell?
I'm not sure what this movie was trying to accomplish, but if it was to be a comedy it failed, if it was supposed to be entertaining, it failed, if it was supposed to use a bunch of mainstream actors and suck, well...ok, so it accomplished that. The movie tried to use a blueprint multi-story outline, where a bunch of couples get mixed up on new years eve. They all end up at the same party...that didn't spoil anything, that information was pretty much implied by the blueprints. Ok, well anyway, you can check it out if you want to, i wouldn't recommend it. I gave it a 5, i should have probably given it something lower, in fact i might just do that.
Fear (1996)
not bad
Lets face it, there isn't much to do as a teenager in the midwest..other than watch movies. I'm almost 20, so i don't know if i count as a teen anymore, or if my comments count for that matter, but i'll give mine anyway. This movie was ok. So, for you teenagers out there who are looking for a pretty chill movie to see, this one is fine. Although it is pretty predicable, and some transitions are pretty bad, wait, and there are some continuity problems as well, just see the movie if you have nothing better to do. It's not too long, reese witherspoon and alyssa milano are hot, if you're a chick, i'm sure mark walberg isn't too bad to look at. i gave it a 6.
Fargo (1996)
too late now
I guess its too late to change the name of this film. I'm not even sure why exactly it was titled "fargo". I mean, i can think of one reason, but its not a good enough one to name the movie that way. This movie started to remind me of "Very Bad things", but then it went downhill. I laughed at William H. Macy's (whats the H for anyway) character as well as the Northern accents, (mostly because my mom's side of the family is from Minnesota) but that is all i can say of entertainment from this movie. I gave it a 5, i think. I don't recommend this movie, unless you're from the north, but then again, you may be offended: all the more fun i guess.
National Lampoon's Animal House (1978)
not that funny
As a college student, i keep hearing animal house references, and feel like i'm in the dark, so i went and saw the movie on showtime. Well, i was really disappointed. There was the occasional laugh here and there, but overall, i was not too entertained. Comedy sure has made progress since then, but at the same time i was really shocked when one of the characters in the movie pulled out a dildo. Hey, if you're gonna see it for anything, see it for the dildo. I gave it a 5.
Jurassic Park III (2001)
Masterpiece? No. Fun? Yes.
I don't want to sound like the average joe of a dwindling society of mindless movie watchers, but i am a big fan of the jurassic park idea. When the first movie came out i was barely hitting puberty, but ever since, i could rely on the movie for an escape to the fantasy world that Spielberg took our imaginations a step further, into the mysteries of the land of the dinosaur. Despite some far fetched factual fallacies, overall Jurassic Park III, was a fun filled film. (i'm kinda tired right now so bear with me) I thought the humor was cute, and although the plotline and scenes of dramatic irony were simple, the movie did its job: to entertain. This movie was not made to achieve greatness as an overall masterpiece film, this movie was made to entertain. After all, what more can you expect from a Jurassic Park movie?
The Ladies Man (2000)
waste of my time
I rented this movie for a few laughs. I had never seen the SNL skit, but with hits like Tommy Boy, and Waynes World, it couldn't have been that bad, could it? The answer: it was. This movie hardly was a means of relaxing after a hard day at work. I just kept waiting for a plotline and a funny part, but there wasn't any. The highlight was tiffany amber thieson, and thats just about it.
