Irish Wish (2024)
Why is he British?
I don't understand, I thought this was an Irish fillum. Did they think we would get the characters confused? It seems strange to have a British man show the American girl all about Ireland. There are a lot of Irish romantic movies out there but having a British person be the main squeeze is a fail. Beautiful scenery, perfectly fine acting, and Brigid is wonderfully portrayed! She was the best part, the main reason I kept watching. Good time skip scenes, and a pretty cute story overall. But why is he British? It ruined the movie and made it seem even less real. Thought I was getting my Irish on, but no.
Knives Out (2019)
The longest movie I have ever seen
With such a stellar cast, I was expecting a lot more. It starts well, and pulls you in by introducing an intriguing cast of characters, but once Daniel Craig spoke in a southern accent, the plot started to loosen. It took far too long to tell the story, at times it was excruciating to follow along. The constant simpering face of the lead character is painful to look at, in retrospect, she is worried most of the time but this only makes her character seem wooden. The length of this movie is not helped by the interruption of commercials, so if you must see this film, watch it on streaming so you can get through it as quickly as possible.
Cardboard Gangsters (2017)
If you're into gangster fillums, watch this
This is an excellent Dublin style take on the classic "young gangsters go large" theme. Brilliant acting, (such that you'll forget that they're acting), spot-on realistic dialogue, and surprisingly excellent cinematography. I had to give it a 10 because a 6.5 average is wrong. You won't stop watching until the end. Do check it out.
Tales of the Unexpected: The Open Window (1982)
Can someone please tell me what the point is?
I love TotU but this episode, I just don't get. Why is dude there in the first place? Are they really alive? What did we learn? In opposition to the earlier comments, I think the acting was excellent. But what was the reason? Watched it twice and still have no clue.
Hector and the Search for Happiness (2014)
If you love Simon Pegg don't watch this
It's a shame that such fine actors and beautiful scenery can't save this film. One soppy tired trope after another. I am unhappier having watched this.
