Lonely Boy (1963)
This film is quoted in the film "Privilege!!"
I have seen Lonely Boy dozens of times, primarily because the student cinema guild in Ann Arbor appears to have owned a print of it and inserted this into the program whenever a short was needed. I was therefore amazed to recognize scenes quoted directly from Lonely Boy in the Jeanne Shrimpton somewhat forgettable film "Privilege" which appeared and vanished in 1968 or so. I have never established who or why these quotes appear, but I would love to know more.
Privilege (1967)
Contains a quote from "Lonely Boy"!!
While I cannot figure out the link (different crews), Privilege contains THREE scenes which are EXACT quotes from the documentary "Lonely Boy" about Paul Anka. If anyone knows why or anything about it, I would love to hear more about this.
As a student in Ann Arbor who saw many many showings of the Student Cinema Guild, who apparently owned a copy of "Lonely Boy," I think I saw it at least 25 times. So when I saw Privilege, I instantly recognized the scenes which are direct quotes. Since both films deal with rock star celebrity issues, it made some sense. One example: in both films there is an interview with the manager who is asked if it is true that they sell the star's hair after a haircut and the answer is something like, "we donate it to charity."
