Shôgun: Anjin (2024)
Okay at best.
People are comparing this to the game of thrones but that's an insane comparison. The whole first episode is super slow and boring. Nothing really happens. The setup seems interesting and the cinematography is really pretty but that's about it. This feels similar to Marco Polo in that it's made for westerners who don't know history.
Maybe if this was all released at once it would be worth watching through but there is nothing worth waiting for with this one. Could barely get through this episode.
It's a shame because the commercials makes this look really good, but it is not. It's background noise at best.
House of the Dragon (2022)
It's good looking but very slow and boring so far 2 episodes
The first episode felt like nothing happened. There was a tournament with no real stakes and the wife died but this isn't interesting at all. The second episode had promises of some interesting action at least but nothing. I enjoy plotting and planning as much as action but this was only plotting with no real outcome. The first episode and season of GOT was amazing. This was just boring.
At first I thought the actor choice was random but that has grown on me. With a 6/10 I will keep watching and I see a potential for a 7/10 but that cannot compare to the 10/10 that early GOT was.
I know the writer is working on the show. If he writes this badly how is the final book gonna be?
The Orville: About a Girl (2017)
First good episode with a moral question
Takes on the question of gender and children's rights versus parents' in a universe with many different beings. Yes, gender is a hot topic in our society but it has always been relevant in any culture. It was brave of them to allow the protagonists to lose while still fighting for what they believed in.
Outer Range: The Void (2022)
Really enjoyable
It's mysterious but fun and I love getting to see this part of America. It seems there are a lot of pieces being laid to later come together and that's exciting.
Sunshine (2007)
I have no idea how anyone could like this movie.
It's just so bad. The man evil doesn't make any sense. How did it survive for 6.5 years? Why does it think it will meet God if it kills the sun? Doesn't it know there are other suns in the world? The video message home was so cringey. Why do some characters randomly question if one life is worth more than all of humanity? These aren't deep themes, this is dumb as hell. I gave it a five because the visuals were really good. That's about it.
To the people saying this still holds up. Yes, this holds up as a bad movie then and now.
Tremors (1990)
The prequel to Dune and a fun monster film with a memorable town
This really feels like an ensemble. I feel like this is a good movie with a silly plot. The characters all act well and make the town feel super real. Each character is fun.
One can see how this is the prequel to Dune 2021.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger (2022)
How are y'all calling this a 10?
Last episode was seriously great but it had nothing to do with BF. This episode had a lot of cool fan service but there was no point to any of it. What did Luke add? What did blue styrofoam head girl add? What did the sheriff add only to die? What did blue bounty hunter add other then being from previous shows? What even was the story of this episode?
This was cool but I seriously question what y'all are on to think this had any story.
Samsara (2001)
Great movie with powerful Buddhist and Feminist themes.
I really enjoyed this from both a Buddhist and a feminist perspective. It has made me see the true struggle of what the Buddha teaches and that of loving one's partner. I especially appreciated the feminist take on the Buddha's wife. Very inspiring. I did not like the Hindu scene but I guess it had its place.
The Pacific (2010)
Like Band of brothers!
Just like band of brothers except take out all the good parts. Hard to follow and don't really care about the characters as much. Definitely not as good writing either.
Seinfeld: The Busboy (1991)
Elaine
Elaine was so darn cringey is this episode. The whole story is great except for her. Her monologue is extremely painful. The busboy storyline is great though.
No Time to Die (2021)
Decent action film but annoying bond film.
There's a lot of good action and classic Daniel Craig but would this be bond without the title? Why're the films connecting to one another? Casino Royal was good but the rest of these Craig films are garbage. Mindless action without any real clever bond. How is giving bond a kid a smart idea?
Worth a watch but will never watch again. Unlike good bond films.
The Simpsons: The Star of the Backstage (2021)
I have watched every episode and...
This is the worst one every made. I only watched it to say I watched it. What a waste of life. I think the recent Simpsons is still good but this episode specifically is a fricken joke. Whoever made this needs to be taken out back with ol' yeller.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Watchable but not good
This movie was below Chris Pratt. CGI is great but the plot is pretty boring and Chris Pratt is thrust into a character that isn't himself. I also found the aliens forgettable and boring. This is the definition of Hollywood summer blockbuster.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Season one and two are both amazing
I'm so mad at season two because I watched it all in one evening and now demand more. This is such a fun and thought provoking show. Please make more!
Love, Death & Robots: The Drowned Giant (2021)
Not the best but good looking and interesting
I like how the story didn't tell us who the giant was. It made me wonder who was the normal human and who was abnormally sized.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021)
Enjoyable but
Why do Star Wars creators always have to add annoying or cliche characters? Omega is the Jar Jar Binks of the series, annoying as hell. The smart guy, wrecker, the sniper, and hunter are all stereotypical. Kind of shallow for what I expected. It's fun but shallow.
28 Weeks Later (2007)
Extremely disappointing
Take everything you loved about the first movie and make it horrible. The inclusion of kids was meaningless and annoying. Random ending. The few good actors randomly die. Don't watch.
Seungriho (2021)
Better than expected but not great.
Visuals and audio are great. The Korean actors are great! For some reason Korean movies always have really cringe-worthy foreign actors, and this is no exception. All that said, it was enjoyable but I would not watch it again.
Fantastic Fungi (2019)
Not what you think it is going to be...
This was good but it focuses mostly on one guy and his story with mushrooms. If it was presented this way it would be rated higher.
WandaVision (2021)
So far it's boring but...
The ending of the first episode seems to imply they're in a simulation and the second one seems to imply something is off. I think this will be better but honestly this is a rough start.
