The Dark Knight (2008)
Unexplainably good
I don't want to waste my time thinking about how it was good, because obviously it was amazing. So just watch it now, or i will come to your house and explode it.
John Tucker Must Die (2006)
Goofy and silly, but also deep
Most of this is just straight comedy gold. I thought parts were hilarious, especially the first half. But also there was some woke moments, like women are not just objects, and they deserve to be treated better. I thought John Tucker was pretty insane and legendary, like his basketball just blew my mind, even though i knew it was fake, but I will never do what he did to those poor girls. That was pretty mean. But good thing he learned his lesson at the end. The sex jokes were just a little too much for me, if they could have toned it down a little bit it could have earned a 9. But anyways I think it was a decent well done movie.
Faith's Song (2017)
So bad its funny
If you like movies like where it is such a bad movie it is funny, you'll love this movie. The actors suck. My sister thinks she can do a better job and she doesn't even act. I told her maybe that's not true, but the acting was pretty bad. It was pretty funny how bad they were acting, and you can tell they are trying to do a good job. This is definitely not a movie where they are trying to make a bad movie. They were trying to make a good movie, and the failed miserably. But the worst part is this is supposed to be a about a christian girl who is trying to spread Gods word through song. She doesn't even sing! She is lip singing to some other song. Like no joke, they used at least two different artists, so she sounds totally different every time she sings. It is an absolute joke. Why can't they get someone who can actually sing, not lip sing? Even my 8 year old sister could tell she was lip singing.
Really those are the only things wrong with it. The intended message and story is pretty good, but the acting and editing ruined the movie and made it a mess. So if you want to watch a bad its good movie to watch with your nerdy friends, watch this. But if you want to watch an actual serious religious movie with no laughs but all drama, I would recommend watching something else.
12 Angry Men (1957)
Good movie, will bore little kids minds
I am 15 and I really liked it. But my younger brother said it was boring. But he just doesn't understand. There is no action or comedy in the entire movie (except for maybe like one or two jokes) so I can see why a little kid wont like it. I just liked it because of the message and drama. Not really a movie you want to watch over and over again, but I could definitely watch it again with my family some day.
Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966)
Horrificaly bad
Have you ever played 2k and your players keep missing even though they are wide open and there name is Steph Curry, and your body boils with rage because you know that not in a million years they would miss that shot? And so you are extremely annoyed and angry? That is exactly what this movie makes me feel.
Even if you don't play 2k, you probably understand exactly what I am saying. This movie makes me angry. Here are my reasons why:
1. The soundtrack. It is the worst. Sounds like elevator music but 100 times worse.
2. The dialogue. They take forever to say their lines you wonder if they forget their lines and someone is trying to whisper them their lines because they totally forgot what they said, so it takes them like 6 seconds to remember their lines. Also their voices are annoying and just old.
3. Plot is just stupid and boring
Even though I know this is from the 60's I cant help but hate this movie. Avoid at all costs. It is not one of those so awful its good like sharknado. It is so bad it is torturing to the soul and body. If MrBeast did another solitary confinement and they made him watch this, he would quit in 30 minutes.
Sharknado (2013)
So outrageously stupid, it is extremely fun to watch
I was at tennis and some varsity kid (I'm in JV) was talking about sharknado. He was describing what the movie was like, and I knew I had to watch it as soon as possible.
So its my turn to pick the movie, and I pick sharknado. We watch the trailer and immediately we know this would be a movie we would never forget. We were right, and here is why.
1. The plot. The plot is so bizarre, you think about how/why someone would ever come up with such an idea. The plot is about a hurricane that floods Los Angeles and sharks start falling from the sky because tornadoes pick up sharks from the ocean and fling them in every which direction
2. The characters. The characters have the worst acting I have ever seen, my 8 year old sister could do better. They also have the cheesiest lines you could ever think of, and they say them whenever the craziest things happen, and what they say no one would ever say. One dude says "The Sharks have no etiquette" right after a shark bites his leg. Also the girl has the cringiest back story ever. It is so predictable even though they try to hide it, which they dont because it is so obvious
3. The cgi. Worst cgi and special effects i have ever seen. Half the time they dont even look like sharks, and other times they actually take clips of blue planet or something to show that they are sharks around them. Its dumb
4. The extras. Most in the time in movies they show extras whenever disasters happen, but they dont linger on the after effect of the attacks. This movie it actually show the extras die in disgusting and bloody ways. It is so pointless though because no one cares about them, but it is hilarious.
I watched this with my grandparetns. We had to stop 3 times to take a break because every time we would be laughing our brains out and our stomachs would start hurting. One of the funniest movies of all time. Watch this with friends or family makes it so much fun because I watched it by myself and I didn't have as much fun but it was still fun. So i recommend to watch it with family or friends because it is just a more fun time.
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)
Just as good as the first one
I thought it was just as good as the first one. They are both hilarious. The plot is genius, with how the Legos are actually just controlled by humans. The songs are super catchy I even listen to them on my phone every once in a while. It is really a fun movie to watch. I wish people would stop comparing it to the first one, even though it is a sequel, because this movie is just as good and I think they are tied. Like the first one, this is a cartoon aimed at both kids and adults, so dont be scared to watch a kids movie adults. You will miss out on fun times.
John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
Insane action, very intense
I wasn't a very big John wick fan when I watched the first one. It seemed kind of pointless. It was actually kind of boring. But this movie changed my mind completely. Not only was the violence/action 5 times better, but there was actually a plot involved in it. And the explanations to the whole continental organization and its rules was crazy. If you did not really like the first one, trust me just watch john wick 2 because it is just insane. I thought it would be the same as the first one but they really expanded everything and made it a lot deeper. You understand John Wick and why he does what he does. You no longer think he is just a screwed up person who kills for no reason. He actually feels like a normal person. Trust me, this is a great movie because it is so intense and you just feel so much more involved than a normal action movie. I tried explaining this movie to my brother but he just doesn't understand, so if you feel confused from my review, just watch the movie for yourself. You wont regret it.
Trolls (2016)
It could have been worse
I was so scared before watching this. Thought it would be the worst ever. But it wasnt really that bad. Songs are acceptable and there were some funny parts. Plot was clever. There were annoying characters but most of them were likeable. So glad it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be.
Godzilla (2014)
could have been so much better
I was expecting tons of action and great visuals. I did get some of that, but barely any. The entire movie, godzilla is either covered in smoke, water, or constant darkness. Or it only shows parts of his body, like his back or legs or his stomach. It is very annoying how it barely ever shows his whole entire body, and when it does it is for very short bits at a time. When it does show him though, it is pretty cool. Also the human drama is very annoying and i could care less what happens to them. I wanted to see nonstop monster action and I was very disappointed. But at least there was some monster action that made it a little fun. Kong skull island is much better and I heard that Godzilla king of monsters and Godzilla vs Kong was much better. So if you don't like this one, don't give up on the monsterverse because they get a lot better.
Toy Story 3 (2010)
The best of the toy stories
I have seen all four of the toy stories and this is by far the best. The other ones are either ok or kind of meh. But this I actually like. This movie has the most meaning out of all of them I feel like. Tells you that change is ok and to move on from the past, and that is kind of a message most movies don't really use. And the flashbacks with the bear and the clown and doll are actually kind of sad. Good movie, although I feel like Megamind should have got the animated movie Oscar not this movie.
Inception (2010)
Absolute Perfection
This is my favorite movie right now. My favorite movie used to be over the hedge. But now this my new favorite. This will probably be my favorite for a long time. The acting is A+, the plot is incredible, the editing and sounds are great. Nothing at all is wrong about this movie. It is a perfect movie. I have said this before, but Christopher Nolan is the GOAT of movie directing and writing. It really isn't that confusing as some people might say. If you are like one of my friends who is procastinating watching this movie, don't because you are missing out on an amazing movie. Easiest 10 stars of my life.
Happy Feet (2006)
How did this get an oscar?
It is in no way good. The songs are terrible. The plot is just stupid, like why would you want to exile a penguin that likes to dance? And everything is just so incredibly boring. Only reason not a 1 star because I reserve those for worst of the worst. But I hate this movie. Most of the time I understand why movies get Oscars, and most of the time they are worthy, but this is definitely not worthy of an Oscar. What were they thinking?
The Sixth Sense (1999)
One of the greatest plot twists of all time
After watching this movie, your mind will explode. Definitely unexpected ending. Wow. I don't want to spoil anything, and literally anything said about this movie ruins the surprise. Great movie.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)
Reading the screenplay is more fun
My grandma got me a copy of the screenplay to this movie and I liked it a lot. I was really excited to watch Fantastic Beasts, but when I watched it I was kind of disappointed. They all say they are from America, but they all have British accents. That's kind of insulting. And it was really easy to guess what would happen(I mean i read the screenplay and all, but even my 6 year old brother could guess what would happen) The CGI didn't really improve from the harry potter movies. Kind of the same. But it still looks a little cool sometimes. This isn't a great movie, but at least it isn't boring. The main problem is that you don't have any feeling for it.
Top Gun (1986)
My thoughts about this is unknown
What is good or bad about this movie? It isn't boring, but it isn't interesting. Its not funny, but it isn't cringey. It isn't sad, but it isn't happy. It isn't thrilling, but it isn't slow. It isn't cool, but it isn't weird. What on earth is this? It isn't anything worth your time, but it isn't not worth your time. I think the only thing that it is, is its music. Especially "Take My Breath Away." I added it to my playlist a few weeks ago. I want to say enjoy the movie, but I cant if I didn't. But I also didn't not enjoy it. You know what, im just going to stop now before I overthink this all.
Mulan (2020)
Not horrible, just kind of boring
This is probably the hardest review I have ever made. Because there is no reason not to like it, but I still didn't like it. The acting was good. The action was good. It wasn't cringey. I never really liked the original anyways so I'm not biased. The costumes and set designs were good. But I was still bored. My feelings about this don't make any sense, so read other peoples reviews instead. My review doesn't really matter if you are trying to get a passionate feeling about the movie. But thanks for reading I guess.
Frozen (2013)
A chill movie to relax
I like it. It's good. I don't have any problems with it. The songs are good for a kids musical. Definitely not one of my favorite movies or anything crazy like that. Just a normal, sit down and relax movie. I think it deserved the Oscar, considering all the animated movies from 2013, although I like Despicable Me 2 a bit more. Nothing else to be really said about this movie.
Aquaman (2018)
The visuals are not even worth it
I could tell by the trailer I would not like it very much. I kind of have that superpower where I can watch a trailer and tell whether or not I will like that movie. That is exactly what happened. We were trying to find something to rent (my parents don't rent that much because we already have Disney + and amazon prime and a whole bunch of other streaming accounts where we don't have to rent. Rarely we rent, and that is if my parents are in a good mood trying to reward us because of our good behavior or good grades) We didn't really know what to watch because our 7 year old sister was with us and we were to trying to find something that would entertain everyone. We had just recently watch Wonder Woman, which is probably the best recent DC movie from the new DC franchise. So we all had high hopes when we watched the trailer (I did not though. I could tell it would be a cringe fest) I tried to tell everyone it would be a mistake, so we all voted on it and it was a 4 to 2 vote. After we finished, everyone was complaining that we should have listened to me because no one liked Aquaman. Here is why
1. Everything is sloppy and rushed
2. You feel no emotion towards the characters
3. The back story or origin story was generic and stupid
4. They tried to make it funny, and none of the jokes were funny at all (except one joke, but that was a very light chuckle and the joke was more idiotic than funny)
5. Aquaman is ugly, you don't even want to look at him(especially when he gets the orange suit, it is just so bad)
6. Soundtrack is just so annoyingly bad
There are only a few good things about this movie that is semi tolerable
1. Amber Heard was kind of hot(my mom thought she was too revealing but my dad just said she was jealous, OH SNAP!)
2. The graphics were fun too look at
That is basically the only good things about it. Trust me, the visuals was the only back bone of the entire movie. Just screen saver after screen saver. Literally only reason not a two or one because of the visuals. But still, the visuals are just not even worth it.
Little Women (2019)
Should be a classic amongst men too
I've grown up with a few girls in my house (my sisters, mom, occasionally grandma's) and they talk about the book a lot as if it the bible. They read Little Women almost religiously. It is definitely my Nana's favorite book. Then with the boys in my family, we never talk about it, and I don't think any of us have ever read it. I definitely haven't. Then my mom heard this was a movie and she was dieing to watch it. My sister was pretty excited to watch it too. I didn't really want too because I wanted to watch Gladiator(which is an excellent movie, by the way), but my dad said it was my moms turn to pick because I just picked Mr. Deeds(another great movie)
I was kind of expecting this to be a 6 star movie, but it was actually a lot better than that. I actually liked it a lot because it helped me understand how girls act and the way they act a little bit more than before. Of course, girls are still confusing most of the time, but I understand them just a little bit more. I liked how there were sad parts in the movie. I wasn't expecting anything emotional, which was one of the main reasons why I didn't want to watch it at first. In fact, I was wanting to watch a sad movie at the time, so the fact that Little Women was a sad movie, and that was what I wanted to watch, made me like it more because it was actually giving me what I wanted. The movie isn't depressing though. In fact, it is mostly a happy ending and all that jazz, but there are definitely sad parts. This definitely disserved the Oscar got, even if I don't even know what the Oscar was for. I'm going to read the book soon to see if it is better than the movie. My mom said the book was better, but she also really liked the movie too. Don't let the title fool you. It is great for both men and women.
The Prestige (2006)
Christopher Nolan is the G.O.A.T of movie directing
Christopher Nolan is definitely the best movie director ever. This movie confirmed it for me. He is a genius, and all of his movies are amazing and mindblowing (well except for the recent DC movies he had to direct, aka justice league and batman vs superman) I love interstellar, inception, tenet, batman begins, and the prestige. Can't wait to watch his other movies, memento, the other dark knight movies, and his upcoming movie reminiscence. this is on amazon prime, so if you have amazon prime, watch this ASAP
The Elephant Man (1980)
A realistic version of "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame"
The Elephant Man is basically the hunchback of Notre dame, except they don't try to murder him. John Merrick (in real life his name is Joseph Merrick) is an ugly man that is being used as a circus show, so people will pay to look at how ugly he is. When Dr Frederick Teeves finds him, he takes him in to the hospital and takes care of him.
This is a very sad movie. John Merrick is bullied and harassed by many characters. This will probably make you cry if you get sad easily. I didn't cry, but I just don't cry from movies. It did get sad though.
This movie is in black and white, so people might think it is boring because it is in black and white. But if you have any common decency, you won't care about the graphics. In fact, they made this movie in 1980 when color movies were possible, but they made it black and white on purpose to make it feel old, because this events on which this movie is based was a long time ago.
Really good movie. One of the best black and white movies.
The Martian (2015)
Pretty Good
Obviously, this is one of those movies where it is predictable from start to finish. Man gets lost, has to be found, has to to survive alone, etc etc. So obviosly there will be some cliche endings. There is some things things to poke fun at and flaws that are kind of ridicuolous. I don't know if all of the science is 100% accurate because it is based on a fictional book.
It's kind of funny it has two actors from interstellar in it that are main characters in interstellar and are main characters in this movie. But they did a good job acting anyways.
This is not a perfect movie, but I still think it was fun to watch with the family. I don't know if it would be as fun to watch by myself than instead of watching it with the family, so I would recommend watching it with the family.
Dead Poets Society (1989)
Beautiful
More meaningful and purposeful than any movie that I have ever seen, except for the Truman Show. Really shows the purpose of life and how you should live it. Also has some educational moments where you actually learn something.
If you don't have an open mind and a really low attention span, you probably wont appreciate Dead Poets Society as much as others. It all really depends on your point of view. But I think that this is a work of art
The Lion King (2019)
Unnecesary
These live action reboots are driving me nuts. We don't need a live action Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Lion king, etc, etc. I'm not the biggest Disney fan, but I do appreciate these movies. The cartoons, even though they aren't live action, feel 200% more real then the live action movies. These cartoons give you emotions, happiness, and meaning. But the live action ones are boring, copy cats, and stupid. Disney thinks they are giving us big favor by making the classics more realistic, but the reason we liked the classics is because they weren't realistic. they were like a dream. so disney, if you see this, stop ruining the classics. just make new ones. the disney fan base is dieing because we are not getting anything new anymore.
