The Secret Life of the American Teenager (2008)
Guilty pleasure that Sucks
I absolutely hate this show with a passion and I remember when it was released as i was around 13 years old so i was just learning about sex and everything. But this show just blows the whole experience and how taboo sex is especially when it comes to teenagers having sex. I'm not one to be a hypocrite because I started when i was in high school but I digress; this show just makes sex taboo for teenagers and adults too.
The actors are overly concerned and the parents are too involved with their teenager's intimate relationships. I understand the teens are still kids but it makes it seem really uncomfortable. I also do like watching the show because it's a guilty pleasure. I just can't stand the acting.
12 Years a Slave (2013)
100% on of my favorite movies
This movie came out in 2013 when I was still in high school. Keep in mind I was grieving for a personal loss but I saw this movie with my cousin and I definitely had to walk out a couple times.
Not because the movie was bad but extremely intense obviously. I cried throughout the whole movie and the scenes are amazingly scripted and the acting is raw. I felt every emotion Solomon felt, his tears and fears gave me goosebumps. Chiwetel Ejiofor gave a stellar performance in this movie and I particularly liked the roll of Patsey which was acted by Lupita Nyong'o. Her Oscar winning performance made me feel so many emotions. I do have to say this movie is definitely intense to watch since it's a true story and during the civil war area, it was common for freed African Americans to be kidnapped and sold into slavery, it's a hard pill to swallow since our ancestors treated human beings like this. I love this movie; the history and the intense scenes are still hard to watch for me and now I'm older. Definitely one of the best movies of all time
