Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
Like watching a briliant scientist succumb to Alzheimer
This was painful to watch. The brilliance from previous seasons is gone, now it's all cheap posturing, long hollow talks and scenes chosen for high emotional impact... but at the price of destroying the story and the characters.
It's like Michelangelo left before completing a masterpiece and they hired some child to finish the picture by finger painting.
Getting "ambushed" by a fleet of slow moving ships makes no sense at all.
We've seen the Dothraki charge (pointlessly) into the undead, get slaughtered and 20 or so of them ran back alive - now it turns out half of them are still around.
Jamie turning honorable, falling for Brianne, then dumping her to be with Cercei again... pointless. He was never a character who does not know what he wants.
Long scene leading to Missandei's execution in front of an audience just to show how evil Cercei is... we know she's not a nice person. Her character is machaivellian, evil when she has to be and always with a purpose. Not bwa-ha-ha-ha now I chops off her head!!!
The subplot with Jon telling his secret to his sisters who swore to keep it and immediately broke their promise... unrealistic. If he was that dumb, he had no place being a king anyway.
Rating it a 3 because of good visuals, Danny's descent into anger and related plotting by "The Spider" to replace her if need be - shadows of what the show used to be. I think I'll start reading the books.
The Walking Dead: Monsters (2017)
What happened to this show?
Long pointless drawn out talks over gun point, long pointless moralizing talk between Jesus and Morgan, scary world-ending over-the-top music with some guys marching through the woods... It's as if author thinks the audience has never seen a movie in their life and will be impressed by mere form and no substance at all. The characters we watched and loved since the show started are reduced to bland, predictable and boring shadows of themselves. If you show this to a 12 years old he would complain that he is too old for such an empty show.
The Last Sentinel (2007)
Cheap, unimaginative, boring... waste of time
Where do I start - movie started with an interesting monologue that made me think its actually worth watching. But everything later was one disappointment after another.
For starters, action scenes are too long and repetitive. It seems like they tried to fill the void with guys in black rubber suits and blue goggles marching and some horror music playing in the background... oooooh, so frightening! There are lots of (long) shooting scenes where super-soldiers were too dumb to take cover but instead stood still in plain sight - no wonder they got slaughtered.
Most of the movie is in ruins with the girl and hero guy and very few other actors, lot of survivalist crap one-liners, absolutely predictable plot and cardboard characters.
Storyline is very weak, seems it was either written for a 12-year-old or by a 12-year-old, its hard to tell which is it.
And I only gave it a three (and watched the whole thing) because of Katee Sackhoff aka Starbuck, because I like BSG series a lot and respect the actors there - this movie is total and utter nonsense that deserves subzero ratings.
