Coupling (2003)
A Ripoff!
This was horrible! I'm a huge fan of the British original, and this one was just terrible. You'd think that copying the exact same dialogue and just about everything else from its predecessor that this show would be as hilarious as the British version. This show is missing the charm and wit of the original.
If you still don't believe watch an episode of each and let yourself decide.
Note to NBC: DON'T EVER COPY A SHOW WORD FOR WORD, JUST SHOW RERUNS OF THE ORIGINAL, YOU'LL GET A BIGGER AUDIENCE!
Passions (1999)
Best Soap Ever
'Passions' has to be the best soap ever! It may throw you for a loop on occasion, but you have to admit it's really entertaining. Plus, there are a lot of hot guys and it's totally different from other soaps!!! Has good love stories and good villains...
The Majestic (2001)
It was an effort...
I went into the movie expecting some kind of Oscar-worthy film...Did not come out feeling this way...
Though Jim Carrey is beginning to prove himself as a dramatic actor, the movie itself lagged in a really bad way. The plot was interesting, but that's about it. It was almost as long as "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," but nowhere near it's magnitude. Was not awe inspiring at all.
I am a little disappointed at the director though...After having created such great films as "The Green Mile" and "The Shawshank Redemption," you would expect something else that was as great. Maybe he should stick to movies set in penitentiaries...
Legally Blonde (2001)
so cute!
I watched this movie on DVD on Thanksgiving and I fell in love with it!!! It was so funny!!! I could not stop laughing. It has a really good message about overcoming stereotypes and not letting them get in the way of your dreams.
All girls should watch this movie! Even if you're not a blonde!
Billy Elliot (2000)
really touching
Really good movie...I probably sound really corny saying this but, it was really touching. The whole family-in-shambles-trying-to-get-it-together thing is something we see all the time in movies, but never is it really emotionally compelling to root for the family. This movie does that.
Jamie Bell was absolutely wonderful and Julie Walters was perfection...Much kudos to those who have seen this treasure.
Memento (2000)
a little strange
This movie was really good. A little strange, but none the less it was quite intriguing. Guy Pearce was the best he's been recently and so was Carrie Anne Moss. That's all I'm going to say because I might slip and give something away.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
One of the Best Ever...
I have yet to read the trilogy by Tolkien, so I cannot compare the movie to the books. (But this movie has really compelled me to.)
I am a movie freak, I'm not going to deny it. I see a lot of really good movies, but I do have to say that this is one the best movies I've ever seen!!!I went into the theater with high expectations and came out feeling awe-struck.
The casting was great because I cannot imagine anyone else better for the roles than the people who played them. Sir Ian McKellan was great and Elijah Wood was eerily perfect for the role of Frodo, as were Christopher Lee, Ian Holm, Sean Astin, and Sean Bean. The strength and power of all the characters was not at all surprising.
Though they didn't really give back stories to majority of the Fellowship , they still kicked ass. Legolas especially. The affair between Aragorn and Arwen seemed a little out of place, but still somehow fit into the movie. The scene with the troll was great and the visual effects in the movie were absolutely fantastic. It had a strong story that did not falter, with its romance, action, adventure, comedic relief, and drama. Everything in the movie meshed together perfectly! What I write right now isn't even half of what I'm raving about this movie, it deserves much more.
I don't know how I'm going to wait twelve LONG months for the next installment of this motion picture masterpiece. I will be anxiously be waiting for next Christmas, not for the holiday, but for The Two Towers.
Dreaming of Joseph Lees (1999)
A Beautiful Film That Shows How True Love Is Never Perfect
I was sad to look in a store and know that I couldn't purchase this film because they didn't have it.
This was a wonderful film, not in the sense that is was happy and cheery, but in the sense that it brought you into the heart and soul of three people.
Samantha Morton was extraordinary in her role as Eva, the young woman torn between the love of her life, Joseph Lees (Rupert Graves) and the man she is obliged to (Lee Ross). Her passion and yearning for Joseph grows over the years, but she feels that she is obliged to Harry because he is madly in love with her and she has, in his eyes, has returned the same kind of love to him. When she finally reunites with Joseph her life is turned upside down and her heart is given the ultimate chance to be truly happy. She is torn between her duties and her heart, and Ms.Morton effectively shows this in her expressions.
Rupert Graves and Lee Ross are equally extraordinary in their roles. This film really beautiful and I think everyone should watch.
