Snowfall (2017)
Slow Start
Snowfall was an extremely slow start for me. There were too many characters with complex stories that were all way too hard to follow. It started getting more interesting in season 3 episode 4. Eventually, the storyline started to tie together. I will point out that the acting is superb! All the actors did a great job of portraying the characters they were playing. Snowfall is a story that has been told time and time again but in many different ways but John Singleton' s expression and point of view on the crack/cocaine epidemic of the 80's took a deeper look into the entire conspiracy. It made me question...is this truly fiction, or non-fiction?
Problem Child: Leslie Jones (2010)
Deja Vu
This comedy special wasn't special at all. Leslie told the same jokes that she told back when she was on Def Comedy Jam 15 years earlier and thought that we wouldn't notice. She really is not that funny. Maybe her next special is funnier. But I think I laughed twice so that's why I gave it two stars.
Harlem (2021)
Chick Flick
This show is very predictable and I feel as though it could've been a movie, but it is a fun watch. Each episode is like a chick flick so it's lite hearted even with the bad acting. Also, I love that Jerrie Johnson!
Locke & Key (2020)
No flow
This show sucks. The flow is lacking and the story is all over the place. Perhaps it has to do with post production. Also I'm not into fantasy type of stories. I tried to give it a chance. So...2 stars.
In the Dark (2019)
Twists and Turns
This show is soooooo good and I'm a tough critic. The actors are really good but we all know the star of the show is Pretzel, beloved Pretzel! Shout out to Ben Stiller, he did an outstanding job. I actually watched this entire show twice and was still intrigued. Definitely a great watch.
When the Bough Breaks (2016)
Predictable Piece
This movie was highly predictable so it didn't allow the watchers to be intrigued. With very little dialogue and a story line we've come to know many times before, I was even shocked that the directors decided on filming this.
The Affair (2014)
Creative Piece
This was a good show, some scenes I felt were long and drawn out, and some episodes I felt were missing huge pieces. Overall, it was a great watch and it was written and directed very creatively.
Dynasty (2017)
Great Show, bad acting
I really enjoy the story of this show but the acting is soooo terrible! I was trying to figure out if it's an art, or an acting style but I think the actors are not very good at acting (except Nicolette Sheridan and Rob). There was simply no flow... while watching, it just felt to me that they were just waiting for one another to finish saying their lines. (Especially the actress who plays Fallon) But a great story nonetheless just wish there were better actors
Behind Her Eyes (2021)
What a Twist
For a 6 part series, it was a very slow start. The plot began to thicken around episode 4. Even though the start was long drawn out, I still kept watching because I knew there was going to be a twist. And boy was there ever a twist!!! Machiavellian in nature. It's a good watch for sure.
Call the Midwife (2012)
Delightful!
This show has been such an amazing watch! Bound to tug at your heart strings, every episode is like a movie. The directors did a spectacular job at capturing the essence of time in the 50s and 60s. From homosexuality, racism, and different cultural realisms and beliefs. The writers are brilliant and the editing and post production team deserve their credit too. The few things I did not understand was the purpose of sister Monica Joan in the show and also it wasn't realistic for the nurses to be surrounded with contagious patients and not be infected themselves. Otherwise, sister Julienne is my absolute heart and Nurse Trixie is one gorgeous, bad a** bit**!!! All in all this show inspires me to be a better nurse as it teaches a great lesson in compassion and holistic caring.
Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (2014)
Mmmm
Yeahhhh this show sucks. It doesn't really have a storyline just basically surrounded by divorced women and their daily lives. I could just watch The Real Housewives. I turn it on as background noise while I'm in my phone.
You (2018)
I don't understand the hype
I don't know why this show is so popular. I have it one star abs that is being generous. It's very predatory in nature and it's doesn't have a very good plot. I couldn't watch past the 2nd episode I got very bored very quickly
Lupin (2021)
Waiting for more
Great story line, beautifully written with lots of twists and turns. I have it 9 stars...for now. We need to see more seasons to know if it's truly a masterpiece. 5 episodes is not enough. But I can't wait to see more!!!!
Ozark (2017)
I don't understand the hype
This is one of the most boring shows I ever put effort into. If the plot isn't there within the first 30 minutes. They've lost me. I gave it a chance and I tried watching it for the second time about a year apart. Then I remembered why I couldn't stand it the first time I tried watching it. These writers suck!!! I could do a wayyyy better job of writing a script for this cast. And the diversity of cast members sucks *blech* I'm not the "it gets better just keep watching" type of viewer. If it doesn't suck me in from episode one I'm over it. Bring in the writers from Wentworth then this show might be worth watching. But I give this show one more season tops. Boring af!
