Gekijouban Violet Evergarden (2020)
Beautiful and disappointing at the same time
At the end of season one, we leave off with violet becoming more independent, learning how to live without the major. I knew it would happen, but it felt really harsh. Yep, the major is alive blablabla. It should have been stretched out into another season, with Violet going of rumours and "hunting" the major. But we get a really cheap version of it. Violet's character felt weird to me, she didn't feel like who she was at the end of season one, instead, she felt like the person she was in episode one.
Nevertheless, this movie is still decent but mostly because of the secondary story arc, the beautiful animation/art and its soundtrack. The main story arc wasn't that great in my opinion but I can live with that.
Giruti kuraun: Guilty Crown (2011)
I've never seen such a mess ever before
Where do I even start with this one? Let's start with the good things about this show. The animation is gorgeous. There are really some epic art bombs in this show that make you forget how bad the story is. The music is absolutely beautiful, and I have it about the sang music, not the standard epic fight music that was decent. The show starts with this beautiful song that makes you think your gonna watch something epic. And after the first episode that thought was gone. But I continued watching. After a few episodes, I came to notice that I didn't like a character in this show. Especially the main love interest for our main character. I absolutely hated her in the first half of the show. The second part is defiantly better, much slower paced and a story that's not as thrown at your face than the first half. And then the ending happened... The shortest, anti-climactic, stupidest ending ever. If it weren't for the animation and the music this show would have gotten a lot lower from me.
