Ozark (2017–2022)
5/10
Pretty good, network(ish) tv.

Because hey-not every show is gonna be as good as The Wire, Sopranos, or even Breaking Bad.

Still, better than Dexter, not quite as good as Full House.

Pretty good slow-burn, fairly relaxed horror miniseries.
16 January 2022
Netflix is the king of the miniseries these days. The 'limited-miniseries' is my favorite format to watch things in -when done right.

This one's done pretty well...

If you want something which progresses slowly, never giving too much away whilst still giving plenty, this is pretty good.

It's themes deal with loss and unsureness. It's alright. I'm about halfway through, do I recommend it? Maybe. And maybe I'll update this when finished , if it inspires me to (in either up or down directions).

I m jerking mein poonis on drugss whilsst sobbing vaguely I approve this vidoe.

The Angry Video Game Nerd: The LJN Library (2021)
Season 15, Episode 13
3/10
So much buildup and masterbatory self-reverential "Wow! -We- made it to 200 episodes", weak, contrived AVGN "lore" and all... so disappointing, but not surprising.
13 December 2021
Read my title - it says it all. Though the fact that the hyped to crap '200th episode' starts with a 'sponsered by' really shows you where James Rolfe's priorities are - that he has no love left for the series and that he's doing it for the $$$ at this point, has no love for, and no fun making the series...

He dosen't even do the writing. F___ Screenwave and F___ Cinemassacre.

I owe James this -one- la st view for all of those early years of good Youtube times, but unlike the early episodes, I have and will not watch/rewatch any of the newer (eg. Last 3 years) of Cinemassacre Content.

Run of the mill.

Not so great - when you considder how -bad- episodes have been for years now this on is Really Good!.

Otherwise stop watching AVGN - it's depressing that not terrible constitutes as 'good' now.

Cowboy Bebop (2021)
4/10
Would be run of the mill Sci-Fi Sit Com if it weren't called Cowboy Bebop.
6 December 2021
Everything good about it is from the anime, everything that sucks is what's been altered/adapted/changed from the anime.

I might have given this a 6 if they'd somehow not tried to commercialze the crap out of this.

The fact that there's no end in site truly is a shame, Spike isn't supposed to be a 50 year old male, Faye is supposed to be a femme-fatale and Vicious isnt supposed to be some Shakespearean Flamer.

Eff this show in it's current form.

Wow! Not Complete BS!
4 October 2021
This episode is not a steaming pile of goat crap!

But that's like saying the crap i took today is better than the one i took yesterday.

I do not have faith in Cinemassacre or Janes to maintain this level of quality.

Man! This show!

Does everything right at the best times. Just when you forget some detail that would make you feel brilliantly smart, it comes back to whack you in the face!

Like some of it's contemporaries it brilliantly fuses comedy and horror in the most psychological of way's and I must say, I really want more of this, and more like this.

Wow, a 1 star improvement over the recent load of AVGN diherrea that was embarrassing
1 August 2021
Think about this.

If AVGN is embarassing for us to watch, how embarssing for JAmes Rolfe is it to (well not write -anymore-) but 'perform' in. He dosent even play the games any more..

I wish he'd just chase his dreams and do what he wants to do cuz you can feel the lack of love all around for this series compared to the old day...

Vikings (2013–2020)
9/10
Discovered this a few weeks ago - quickly becoming one of my favorites.
22 July 2021
First things first - the characters, brought to life by the brilliant performances are... spectacular. The writers, producers, directors, and most of all the actors were -all- so inspired - so much passion for the product, that every scene evokes its own life. Though the show is super serious, it dosent always take itself too seriously which is rare and very welcome.

Every character has redeeming qualities and I must say... This is quite the amazing show. I didnt know there were more than 4 seasons, so maybe I'll finish with what's on Netflix and leave it there, cuz a lot of you guy's really seem to note a quality dip..

A must watch - one of my favorite newer series.

Right up there (or down there) with the worst of AVGN yet.
16 July 2021
In my opinion Drake 99 Dragons, Trasure Master, Shrek and now this are by far the worst AVGN episodes yet, though the last few were so bad I cant even remember them, so at least they have that going for them.

For the rec Im not some redditor, I am someone who is offended. Not by the use of vulgarity to substitute humor, Im offended that the same guy that brought us Plumber Dont wear Ties, NES accesories, actually the first 3 'seasons' of AVGN has sold out so hard that he does not even write his own episodes, and entrusted his brand to a team of neckbeards that can't even dress themselves properly.

I think the AVGN should be retired as a character, maybe appearing publicly and at Xmas or something, but from now on I'm not watching AVGN anymore. It sucks so much it hurts.

25 June 2021
This is top 5-10 worst AVGN videos. I dont know why I keep watching them.

I'm not even one of those Redditors that thinks James owes me something.

I just like good, sensible content - this is neither and is almost deptressing once you considder how bad AVGN has gotten....

The Avengers (2012)
4/10
There's a reason I don't like superhero movies-by default they're generic and like they videogaymes they're designed to sell, they're obsolete within a few years.
18 June 2021
Take the Avengers. I'm not even 40 minutes in, and I'm already bored.

The overreliance on CGI makes everything the actors do feel forced and fake.

I hate Robert Downey JR but like him I am also on drugs and am spanking mine poon irlz, whilst sobbing.

What About Me (1993)
8/10
Vastly Underrated, I was Pleasantly Surprised by this more than obscure film.
17 June 2021
This Downtown New York Art Movie which seems to be by and for people from the NYHipster Scene which has all the punks in it and a pretty damn good soundtrack of Johnny Thunders tracks in it.

For an arty, European style movie, it's surprisingly -very- straightforward and is really bittersweet, folloinng a poor girl Lisa who becomes homeless and subsequently all of the men that become enamored with her.

Currently this has under 10 000 views on YouTube. For such an obscure movie, I think this is criminally underrated and I only clicked it by chance due to Johnny Thunder's name (erroniously) being in the title, and it seems to be the writer/director/star's biggest film. I hope she made more, or is doing very well in whatever she's pursued cuz she was alll around great in this.

There's like 8 versions all by that Hipster that made this on Youtube they're all great.
16 June 2021
The Dolls, later the Heartbreakers are right up there with the greats - not just in punk rock, but in Rock N Roll and the Dolls are some of -the- pop cult. Icons.

Just like how the Dolls died, Thunders died tragically. This film is no BS. It's a look at his last days, a little of his impact. I love the color and wild ass style of just about -all- the people in this, and the era when dope n coke were real cool is just about dead.

I recommend this for fan's of the man, anyone interested in punk, and if you don't got a pretty strong stomach at that. They don't pull -any- punches here.. The word that comes to mind is Brutal. The second one is Honesry.

RIP to Dee Dee, Thunkers, Willy Deville, Spacely. All of them. Im just glad Deville got to have a life otutside of dope. And to anyone struggling, or eastly trigged, watch something more positive.

T1 or T2 take your pic.
15 June 2021
Just like Alien/s, this movie or the sequel; it's a take your pic sort of scenario.

I like 2 subjectively, as it was the first one that I saw.

For the perfectly realized world, the grittiness of the theme and the setting and overall presentation, I think that this is the better movie.

Just about everything was perfect in this one, and I think back to the 80's when this was all that the viewer had and question of 'Is Kyle Reese really who he says he is, or was his insanity so compelling and contagious that it spreads to Sarah Connor?'

That's a major premise of T2, and also what makes me remember this was the not just the series, but Sci-Fi and storytelling from that era at it's best, most suspenseful, and I just wish more series' took inspiration from the innovation instead of from the T-101.

Alien 3 (1992)
6/10
The Godfather 3 of the Alien Franchise, though not as good.
15 June 2021
Just like all threequels, this movie is inferior, vastly so, to the first 2.

But when I think about what I heard about this seemingly cursed production and realize everything this went through from unfinished scripts to director changes, I realize; this movie turned out extremely well, under the circumstances.

I almost feel like it's imperfection, coupled with the amazing, iconicness of the performances, the setting and the statements, I wouldn't change this one for any alternative in the world.

It's camp, it's grittyness and it's bittersweet closure are where the Alien Series ends for me, at least for the Ridley Arc.

Aliens (1986)
9/10
For a movie that feels like absoloutely -everything- had to be okayed by some Network Suit in order to sell stuff, this is Amazing.
15 June 2021
I still love Aliens, I know it's a 'pick one or the other' type deal and I certainly pick the first.

Everything about this movie from it's plot development, to the character arcs, designs, set designs, music all screams 'for sale' we're gonna make action figures, video/board games, records, books, just about anything to $ell $ell $ell outta this one, And Guess What?

-----------------Its Still Freaking Amazing!

I just think about the Stress that Cameron and Weaver were under from the executives to make everything as commercial as anything in history ever has been, and still make artisically, creatively the best movie that they could, and I realize that there was no way this movie could have been any better.

It might just be the best sequel ever, and is certainly just as inspired, just as influential as the first, and is still a damn good movie. My only critiscism would be minor plot nitpicks towards and at the end, but when Im honest with myself and look at the whole picture, I can do nothing except say;

Damn. This movie is frigging amazing.

Alien (1979)
10/10
More raw, emotionally and artisically realistic and credible than the equally influential and genre defining sequel. Singular.
15 June 2021
I can;'t think of another series bar The Godfather of of the Dead series that are as precedent setting, as genre defining and just all around spectacular in every way, as the first 2 Aliens. Though I still like number 2, the commercial, blockbusting, let's market absouloutely -everything- we can mindset had fully kicked in with the Network Execs and at least to me, everything about 2 feels like someone high high up in the marketing dept. Of the network okayed just about everything from plotlines, especially to set dec, character models, music.

Everything about 2 screams "for sale" and to me (for example Alien 3 - was that produced, developed and released with a modicum of the standard that Alien was treated to?) while it's the better action movie, Alien is the better movie.

Just like Hitchcock, this movie didn't just change horror/sci-fi forever but also modern, big budget blockbusters entirely and is so timeless and genre defining that I'm not even a horror fan and this is one of my favorites.

This movie speaks more in the action, the setting and the arc than in the dialog, the music rivals anything by Williams or any of the other greats, and this still remains one of the best, undated looking movies ever, it could have been released today, tomorrow, or 30 years from now.

The Exorcist (1973)
8/10
If not one of the greatest, certainly one of the most iconic films of all time.
13 June 2021
This movie well deserves it's spot at or near the top of the greatest horror movies. Objectively it's great, it still feels modern. Really it could have been made today. It's truly a cinematic staple, from that bulletproof era which also brought us the Godfather.

All of the part's of an amazing movie are there, and there's nothing, absolutely -nothing- which I can say which has not already been said about this masterpiece.

RoboCop (1987)
9/10
Style, substance, and just enough story to make this not just the 1980's best, but one of the best action movies -ever-
13 June 2021
Ah... Robocop... What can I say about this cyberpunk classic which has not already been said? It's 80's action at it's finest - with at least as much substance as Terminator nd even more style, the many statements this movie makes (on top of a nearly flawless execution) make this one of my favorite action movie's to revisit at just about any time.

I don't know about it's reboot from a few years ago, or it's sequels, but in my opinion, this movie does not get near enough love today.

Judge Dredd (1995)
5/10
Perfectly servable 90's action cyberpunk action sci-fi which -could- have been -so- much better.
13 June 2021
Stallone said it all in a 2010's interview in which he said 'With Judge Dredd we didn't know what we were trying to do - we tried to make Hamlet - with Eggs, instead of just making a good movie"

Or something to that effect. This -could- have been so much better, getting into Terminator 2 territory or something to that effect, instead it's not even as good as 1995's fellow cyberpunk disasterpiece, Johnny Mnemonic.

More interesting for it's content than it's actual end product.
13 June 2021
This is a perfectly suitable 90's action sci-fi. It felt campy, even then, with cgi that made Terminator 2 look like frigging Pixar. But there's something great about this- whether it's Keanu's performance (which sure is Generic Keanu) or Dolph Lundgren's cybernetic'd up Preist Warrior, this movie would've (and still would) be a much, much better videogame, and is cyberpunk, well not quite at it's finest (like Bladerunner) but is certainly better than the first Judge Dredd Movie.

Psycho (1960)
10/10
If there's a 10 star movie, this would be it.
13 June 2021
This has gotta be my favorite Hitchcock movie. Something timeless oozes from this movie - unlike Vertigo, the other movie which Hitchcock made which just about every film afterwards has taken at least -something- from, Psycho does not feel dated, keeps you guessing in all of the important ways.

I wish more films tried to do what this film did, instead of trying to be what it was.
