A Boy and His Dog (1975)
Strange and enjoyable.
The setting of this film is not only a material wasteland, but a moral one as well. Our protaganists are a wandering teenage misogynist and his super-intelligent telepathic dog. The latter helps the former to locate potential rape victims. Their pursuit of one particular sexual quarry leads the young man on a journey into a subterranean perversion of smalltown America. The dog is the most sympathetic character in the movie, and is brilliantly voiced by Tim McIntire.
If you are able to wrap your head around the bizarre moral construct, this film is a nihilistic hoot.
It (1990)
Waste of time; read the book.
Stephen King's novels are rarely made into good movies. "It" certainly wasn't. The plot has been needlessly simplified, which actually makes it significantly more confusing than it would have been otherwise. Admittedly, there are some parts that are very faithful to the book, and are well done, but these are few and far between. Don't see this movie. If you want the story, read the book. If you just want to watch a scary movie, don't get this one. It's about as frightening as a Power Rangers episode, but without the depth.
Zombi 2 (1979)
YES!
If you see one zombie movie in your entire life, this should be it. It has flesh-eating, voodoo, spurting blood, severed limbs, a zombie vs. shark fight scene, nudity, and the best eye injury in cinematic history. Oh, and a spectacularly classic ending. See this movie tonight; you won't regret it.
