Todo sobre mi madre (1999)
Not good
I love Julio Medem's films and this was my first Almodovar. I did not understand it. For me it was just stupid. The story did not catch me, did not force be to be interested in. All the exaggerated situations remind me of Garp (John Irving - The world according to Garp). But I am happy that I saw it and I am goung to see Habla con ella. The last chance for Pedro Almodovar.
Fucking Åmål (1998)
Great story, bad movie
After half an hour I wanted to leave the cinema. I just had to laugh. It was soo ridiculous. But then I thought it wasn't so bad and the end was really excellent. When you put it together I have to repeat - great story, bad movie. The movie should be at least 45 minutes longer to express all the small details and to add more situations and little stories which explain what the characters feel. Without it, the movie is too fast and the characters are too simple.
In the end I like this movie and especially the last scene was perfect. 6/10
Resurrection (1999)
Waste of time
I have seen quite a lot movies but this one is really weak. I have found only one interesting thing in the movie - the gore details. But for the first and second time you can be shocked. Then it is just boring.
I really regret the story writers. Did they really think the audience would believe it? You could see in the movie all the ridiculous cliches you can imagine - death of the child, injured partner (the stolen leg - I had to laugh), almost-caught-and-then-escaping killer. And the last scene with the child? I recommend a psychiatrist for the story writers.

Siberia (1998)
Another very good Dutch movie
Since last summer I am a big fan of Dutch cinematography. I saw movies of Jos Stelling, Gert de Graaff, Paula van der Oest and Mike van Diem. Every movie represents absolutely different style, but all of them are on the highest level. And so is Siberia. It is not the best I have ever seen, but it is a professional movie with very good story. Sometimes it is good to see "wrong" heroes. You don´t have to agree with every thing they do but still you can enjyo it. What I want is to see some Czech movies like this - showing the problems of the presence and not the past. And not trying to solve them. So I vote 8/10.
Musíme si pomáhat (2000)
We must help each other
"We must help each other" is Czech name of this movie and I think it more reflects the nature of the movie. I don´t like Czech movies too much (I am from Czechia!) but this one is something extraordinary. I read all the enthusiastic comments and appreciate it. I was afraid of how foreigners will understand it but these comments showed me that most of them catched the real nature. Some of us are good and some are bad but we must help each other. And try to answer these question. Is Horst Prohaska the same "Nazi" as dr. Kepke and SS Officer? Was Josef Cizek brave or just he had no other possibility? How many people would do the same as Frantisek Simacek (he shouted "Jude, Jude" when he met Jew)? Really good movie gives you questions, gives you something to think about.
De wisselwachter (1986)
Simply brilliant
Movies like this are the reason I don´t like Hollywood movies. All Stelling´s movie are simply brilliant. But who knows them. De Wisselwachter is quite, slow, with almost no dialogues. At the same time it´s very funny and full of surprises. You don´t have to think and be clutterd up with thousands of words which explain everything. You just sit and feel the atmosphere and emotions. Wonderful!!!
