Campfire Christmas (2022)
CRINGEWORTHY!!
KK, I get it, Hallmark Rom-Com Christmas movie.
Too much over-acting. Agree with reviewers, bunch of 30 yr olds acting like teenagers. They all must pay a fortune to stay here, cause there are so few campers there. Why does Hallmark insist on a gay characters being so over the top, I'm gay and the Beckett and Chris characters made me cringe! (The Rainbow Santa hats were too precious)
Cook Off (2017)
JUST WHAT WE NEED, NOW!
Fun, delightful film made on a very shoestring budget, but with great results! Really enjoy the simple story line.. The acting is sweet, her best friend steels the scene when she appears! During these days of stay at home, it was a relief to find, heartwarming and simple with a very nice message to not give up. Yes, the reviewer who gave it a 1 had some points, but watch the movie with not a so critical eye. If you are relaxing at home during these Covid times, it is a nice change from shoot em up and scif and zombies!
Airplane vs. Volcano (2014)
It is after-all a SyFy-Asylum film
OK, if you watched this were you really expecting Oscar caliber anything? I rent these types of films because they are fun, cheesy B movies! In my early days this would have been the anchor picture at the drive-in. This one did have what I thought was one of the better performers that should get better billing above Mrs Mike Tyson, and I guess has run out of settlement monies, Robin Givens and that is Tamara Goodwin who is the flight attendant. She could act her way out of a paper-bag! The guy who played the Col was one of the biggest hams I've seen in a while. The kid who plays the Specialist/Sgt well his part called for him to talk back, and he did it very well. As for the Tim guy who posted a review about this being a propaganda tool for the military, I can only say that I didn't see that they promoted, produced or lend-ed a hand to any part of this, so why he would say that is beyond me; maybe he is just one of those anti-American Americans who can't stand the sight of his countries flag. I'm sure if you rented/watched this you were expecting to laugh, yell at the screen, roll your eyes and enjoy a campy movie that in the end of it really doesn't take itself all that serious, unlike so many Jr critics here do. This is a fun movie just like any of the other Syfy-Asylum disaster/end-of-the world movies they make. They give young directors/actors, behind the scenes techs and yes, even a few veteran B actors a place to work on their craft.
2012: Doomsday (2008)
In the top 10 of the worst movies, ever!
OK I should have looked this up sooner, but really I thought it was akin to the movie about to come out. It is possibly the worst film ever, and definitely in the top 10. From the beginning I was stunned because it was so bad. The story line, the acting, the special effects all are below awful. When they are driving away from the city and there is no one on the road, it made me laugh. When the car breaks down and Mom disappears and the girl just gets in the car with a passer-by, well that made me laugh harder. The hail storm that is missing in the back window is hilarious. When one hailstone comes through the window well... I am at a lose for words. I admit I sat through till the end and really wanted to slit my wrists when it was! I had to go and wash my eyes out, it was that bad! I am sure that the actors in this film wanted to run out in traffic after viewing the finished product, or at least fire their agents and kicking the director and producers butt!
Obsession (1976)
Amazing/Suspenseful/Oustanding/Under-Rated
I have waited for years to see this movie offered for home viewing. When I saw it in the 70's I was so amazed at the story and most of all the music. I found the soundtrack album in a store in NYC and played the death out of it. The story really keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the twists and turns keep you dazed and confused, but totally interested. John Lithgow is really excellent in this early role of his career. Geneviève Bujold is wonderful and should have gotten some award, Golden Globe or Oscar, she is that excellent in this film, and will leave you breathless. I am so thrilled that it is now available in DVD and plan to buy several as Christmas gifts for the many friends that I have raved too all these years. This movie is better then most Hitchcock films, and twice as haunting!!
