Speak Every Language on the Planet, or Don't Bother
I made it about 15 minutes (with some forwarding), through the Hindi, then through the German and just gave up.
Who could possibly think it's a good idea to have a film in multiple languages and not have the subtitles necessary to understand it?
S.W.A.T.: Los Huesos (2019)
Uhhh... wut?
So, during the Spanish parts, I understood "open the door" and that someone is dead. So yeah, because my Spanish is terrible, this episode started to really annoy me very quickly. Like someone said, I applaud them using characters who are Mexican actually speaking Spanish, but it's safe to say that not every person watching is English/Spanish bilingual.
Because of that the ep is a total loss.
The Originals (2013)
True Blood - The PG-13 Version
This is pretty good if you can get past the principal character (Niklaus) acting like a hyper narcissist and butchering the pronunciation of everything, the biggest being "New Orleeens" and "Tee-air-ee" (Thiery).
He's not alone though, so I suggest making it into a drinking game, although, your alcohol poisoning is TOTALLY not my fault.
M.O.M.: Mothers of Monsters (2020)
When Wine Moms Revolt!
Initially, I wanted to give this film a MUCH, MUCH lower rating; however, it dawned on me that I didn't hate the film, so much as I just really hated the lead character (whether she's the protagonist or the antagonist is questionable throughout the film), Abby.
M. O. M's core demographic, (wine-mom bloggers with a psychology degree from Google Search University), are not unlike our lead victim of life, Abbey (played by Melinda Page Hamilton). If you're the sort of person that starts their day with Folgers and Ritalin, makes a hundred and fifty delusion-fueled rants about your children, on video, before breakfast and then you end that day with a box of merlot and some Xanax, you might be able to scratch the surface of the levels of psychopathy dearest Abbey is facing and probably sympathize with her. If not, you've probably got your eyes focused on the closest window - to hurl yourself out from.
As mentioned, our hero, SINGLE MOTHER, Abbey, is CONCERNED that one of her son Jacob's (played by Bailey Edwards) role models are one of those Columbine children or maybe even Patrick Bateman. She does her level best to get little Jared locked up by proving all the EVIDENCE her community college degree and watching seven seasons of Criminal Minds taught her about budding psychopaths, but no matter how hard poor Abbey tried, NOBODY would lock up her son. Meanwhile, Abbs plays "one for me, one for you" with Jacob's collection of prescription drugs that she readily admits she doesn't know what they're even for, while she tries to convince dear Nana of her STRUGGLE (but ol' Grams sees right through her and thinks someone like her probably shouldn't throw stones in her glass mental hospital).
The film itself, is interesting, in the fact that it solely uses CCTV video and mobile phone recordings as footage. So, I give the film props for a somewhat original idea, in somewhat original packaging, along with stellar performances by Edwards and Hamilton; however, points were taken off for the character of Abbey, who let's face it, if you were not at some point wishing Jared would hack her up and make her into rat-sized Snausages, you just were not watching the same movie.
