I saw this movie the other day and I had no idea what the world was fussing about. It was an okay movie, I'll give it that. The animation was truly excellent I must admit, and the choice of actors for the voicing was immaculately well done. The look and act of the penguins was very well thought-out. But the storyline... This was a bit of a problem. The writer of this movie clearly had brilliant imagination. The way they had thought up the way Mumble would be rejected by the penguin colony/tribe/pack whatever you want to call it and how penguins get together, the way a penguins life works. All fantastic. But the writer didn't seem to know whether this story was supposed to be about rejection and trying to fit in, or about finding help like some adventure story (Like when mumble needed to find out where the fish was disappearing to) The story lines seemed to skip back and fourth and I found that the movie went for ages and then it got to the part where Mumble was looking for where the fish went and ended up in the zoo (was it a zoo? it was like sea-world...) which seemed to just go so quickly, I was amazed to find that it ended that quickly. One more thing... There was that scene showing cities of humans debating over fishing in Antarctica. Hello! I thought it was an animated movie! All of a sudden they're showing us real humans. Not animation, just true humans acting. I took one look at that and thought, 'What did they run out of money all of a sudden and have to cut short on some animation? Thats just strange...'
So really, I have no idea what the fuss is all about. i didn't think it was an absolute masterpiece to be remembered for all of eternity. I have no idea why it's doing so well.
I thought it was just weird.
