Six-String Samurai (1998)
Hilariously awful
The key to enjoying this movie is to rent it expecting nothing more than a B-movie. The concept is simple enough: Wizard of Oz meets Don McLean's "American Pie" meets Interplay's "Fallout" series. The fight scenes are repetitive and unintentionally hilarious, the low production values (such things as obviously rubber guns, etc) provide more laughs, and the end sequence is a complete gutbuster. This movie is a testament to how bad an indie film can be. Rent it for cheap laughs and you're set.

Made a believer out of me
At first I was reticent to become hooked on this series, but after watching the first 3 episodes back-to-back, I was done. Although some of the episodes are weaker than others (the one that aired on 3-19-01 comes to mind), the show as a whole is compelling and creative, though occasionally predictable. It seems unlikely that the show will be cancelled before it runs its 24-episode course. I wonder, however, if they will try to extend its lifespan, and if so what incarnation it will take. Perhaps "CTU," with Jack's career being the focus, but that would destroy the primary appeal of the show, namely the multifaceted storyline. I think it would be best to allow the show to end gracefully, rather than force it beyond its peak, as has happened to so many fine shows, such as "Friends."
