The Survivor (2021)
Why the average or low ratings here?
Some users feel this drags but I did not. An amazing performance not only from Foster but also the supporting cast is definitely worth the price of admission. It's a moving story and pulls you in to the end.
Past Obsessions (2011)
Yep it's a bad knock off
I actually don't know how movie makers get away with doing this type of thing. They basically stole every move from "Sleeping with the Enemy" The acting is horrendous although Josie Davis who started on "Charles in Charge" is absolutely gorgeous and did the best she could with such flimsy writing, direction and cinematography.
Last Night (2010)
Underrated!!!
I've seen this movie no less than a dozen times. I agree with a previous review, you fall in love with this movie. Anyone who is or has been married will relate to the dilemma that our beautiful couple faces. They both face different kinds of temptations but both are familiar to those of us who love our partner but are human and have longings that are not always good for us.
I downloaded the score on iTunes. Clint Mansell is a genius! It is hauntingly beautiful and serves to underline the torment, love and regret that fill this film.
This is where Keira Knightly and Sam Worthington belong! Of course they have their place but vehicles such as "Avatar" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" are for the masses and money makers. This type of film lets the training, gifts and beauty of actors shine.
The Swerve (2018)
Artsy and well acted!
Another user said it well, depression comes in many ways. Our lead is believable and relatable. A surprising and well crafted gem. If you enjoy a slow burn and tragedy that has an undertone of cautionary tale telling...grab your glass of wine, turn down the lights and prepare to be saddened and thrilled both.
My only criticism is that there are not more films like this!
Boarding School (2018)
Surprising & deliciously haunting
While surfing my streaming options I stumbled on this unique and disturbing piece. Yes it is coming of age, yes it is has a gratifying and unexpected ending but what makes this such a good watch is the performance by I seemingly newcomer Luke Parel. Let's hope we see this gorgeous and talented kid again soon and often!
Such a creepy and disturbing storyline, somehow you find yourself relating to misfits that have been thrown aside and left to the devices of an abusive and evil ward.
The lighting, score and set all contribute to the tense and uncomfortable air of this film, as does the legacy of our hero's grandmother.
Don't expect grizzly action or the main stream bullcrap usually dropped by horror flick makers, no this one is well done in all aspects and thank you to Boraz Yakin! You're in the league of Ari Aster now!!
