This is an episode where you want to shout at June & Rosemary and say why are you still putting up with these chimps you call husbands!! It is a real stretch of the imagination that Terry would not only attract a woman, but she would attempt intimacy with him twice!! Malcolm is always horrible to his wife...never liked the character at all. As soon as his wife (finally) leaves him, Terry is trying to set him up with his neighbour....wtf??!!! Of course, his wife immediately goes back to him for some reason!! I realise you need these characteristics as there is where the comedy is, but maybe the male casting wasn't right?

Bit of nostalgia.

I remember watching this in 1989/90 & it's now on BBC iplayer. Still so enjoyable & real. It's fascinating seeing the cars & the clothes from only 34 years ago ( women in their 30s really did look old fashioned then!) & how it's all moved on so quickly. Quite gripping storylines & some really interesting characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it the second time around 34 years later, even though I found Margi Clarke quite annoying & was amazed no one was upset about the makeshift rabbit farm. This was the first of similar series set in the North...Clocking Off,etc & is well worth watching. Great cast.

Quite a lot of actors in this one and really good to see Simon Templar do more outdoor shots. Nanette Newman as lovely as ever and Fabia Drake as Aunt Hattie was absolutely delightful. Robert Brown, one of the baddies, not only starred in Bond films with Roger Moore but was in Ivanhoe with him in the 1950s. They must have been friends as he is godfather to Roger Moores daughter. The fight scene between Roger Moore and Robert Brown was pretty good and quite energetic! This episode was also directed by Roger which impressed me..he did a very good job. Although almost 60 years old, a few of the actors in this are alive and well in their 80s!

Harriet is applying to be a QC but there is worry that she will get married and have to give up her work!! Unbelievable to us in 2023. She probably works much harder than a lot of male barristers. I admire her relationship with Sir John ( seen in a four poster bed being served by his butler in this episode!) but cannot fathom her love for Dr Moody. To me, he has a streak of untrustworthyness but I assume his rebellious nature and stubbornness attracts her. Funnily enough, Margaret Lockwood and John Stone lived together for 17 years until he unexpectedly left her to marry a younger woman. That explains the chemistry between them but what a rotter!!
Another Monty Python Connection

There is a second Monty Python connection in this episode. Not only was Carol Cleveland (from Monty Python) in this episode but so was Bruce Boa. He was the American in Fawlty Towers who wanted a Waldorf salad. I did have to laugh when the Saint said to the secretary 'you look better without them' when she took her glasses off!! Blimey Simon, she might have actually needed them to read! Darren Nesbit terrific, as always. I always like watching him. Funnily enough, I met his distant family recently in South Africa & they knew he was an actor but weren't familiar with his work. I gave him a glowing review!!

I'm up to episode 4 & I find it intoxicating. Very dark but it moved at such a great pace & kept me enthralled. So original. The only massive reservation is the cruelty shown to animals. I guess that was a real rabbit they were skinning unfortunately and the killing of the other animals looked realistic and upset me. I really hope no animals were harmed but their inclusion in the series was unnecessary. Humans can look after themselves..animals, we must care for.

Funny thing about this episode is that Ben Kingsley cannot act as himself. He just doesn't pull it off, which surprised me. Michael Imperioli is a terrific, natural actor & he merely emphasises that BK maybe has to have a character to act....he's all over the place here.
