Incredible start, lackluster finish
2 October 2021
Signs of a Holy War and Revival of The Commandments were absolutely incredible. I've watched them over again a few times now, and it doesn't get old for me. The first half of Dragon's Judgement was also pretty good, as I am a big fan of Van.

Aside from that the show went pretty downhill. It went from cool fight scenes and a good story to everyone trying to establish that love and friendship is the force that beats all. At some points they actually start discussing relationships during fight scenes, as opposed to showing any actual action. Very disappointing as this was one of my favorite series.

Very well done

This is definitely one of the better isekais out there with an overpowered, yet likeable, mc. All of the main and most of the side characters are equally as enjoyable to watch. The story runs similar to 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime', being less focused on full out action (there still is a decent bit) and more on character/world building. If you like that kind of fantasy show this is definitely one to throw on your watchlist.

Was this supposed to be serious?
12 September 2021
If so, that was terrible. That might have been the most ridiculous plot I have ever scene in a movie not intended to be a comedy. This would have played pretty well if they would have lightened it up a bit and added jokes, but for a move that's meant to be taken seriously and scare/excite you, it was just the worst.

The extra stars were for some good special effects/nicely done (if not completely unrealistic) fight scenes.

Not the same

The original adventure time series was incredible and filled with comedy and emotion that I thoroughly enjoyed. This mini series completely lacks both. The jokes are stale and any emotional aspect seems pretty forced. I think it would have been much better if they had showed older Finn and his adveo with Jake's granddaughter instead of highlighting the lives of side characters that I am much less emotionally invested in. Either way, the only joy I got out of it was seeing the characters again, even if it seemed like their personalities were completely different than the original.

Definitely not great

I'm really not sure what this movie was trying to go for. It seems like it's primarily supposed to be a comedy, but none of the jokes even sort of land. Might've chuckled twice the whole movie. Other than that it's just a weirdly paced gorefest, with either unbearably slow and boring backstory or over exaggerated gore. If you like bloody fights there are some good scenes for ya.

Other than that, John Cena and Idris Elba's characters were fun most of the time. Everything else just seemed forced.

Equally as bad and nonsensical as the first

Warning: Spoilers
Another failed attempt at a romance/friendship movie. They again tried to make the main focal point the relationship of a bunch of annoying people that you never really have an interest in, and then throw invincible killers in the mix. Didn't work in the first one, and definitely doesn't work here. If they wouldve taken out all the dragged out scenes of people trying to build their relationships and share sob stories whilst be hunted by killers, it might have been okay up until the ending.

But then the ending.... I mean I'm okay with throwing some logic out the window in a slasher, but that ending was too much. The girl got stabbed in the stomach like 5-10 times, and then some random kid revives her with CPR??? In what world could that possibly work? She didn't die of a heart attack or drowning. CPR would literally be pumping even more blood out of her. She would have died more. Absolute lunacy.

Pretty bad. Very unrealistic

Warning: Spoilers
Didn't even know this was a reboot until I started reading reviews. I just found the film in itself pretty awful. The acting was okay, but the choices that people made throughout and some of the plot were entirely too unrealistic to look past.

Examples: 1. A giant log tumbles down towards the cast, and they all freak out and start running down a steep hill rather than hide behind one of the numerous trees or simply step to the side. The log miraculously doesn't hit a tree until it collides with one of the group members, who sat there screaming instead of trying to dodge.

2. Crazed backwoods people for some reason claim to be helping someone by hog-tying them and carrying them away on a stick? There wasn't a better way to do that to make it seem like they weren't trying to kill him? Then they question the rest of the group asking how they could possibly have felt threatened???

3. The ending: why and how did the head honcho of the foundation find where this girl lives and travel all the way there just to take her back? He claimed throughout the movie how they live in the woods and that's their life, yet they know how to search someone up, drive a car, buy clothes, gas, etc., and be presentable in an entirely more advanced society than they have ever seen at all. They don't even have money and have never heard of the internet. What.

The characters were annoying in the beginning and I was willing to look past that, but the obvious holes in plot and realism are too starggering to overlook. I might try to watch the old movies since all the other reviews are praising them.

Only worth watching the first half
19 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The first half of this season was very well made, with a protagonist that is enjoyable to watch slowly grow to be incredibly strong. It seems sort of similar to the reincarnated as a slime. This is my favorite type of anime so I may be a little bias, but it is still fun all the same. Very much enjoyed seeing the mc acquire ludicrous skills and use them to conquer and escape the dungeon. Was excited for every episode to air to see where her story progressed on the surface.

Flash forward to the second half of the season, where it all goes downhill. In the first half there is a side story regarding her other classmates that, frankly, I did not really care for. I was okay with it because I figured it would set some plot up for our mc in the future, but the characters are very lame and overly serious all the time. However, the writers seemed to forget what the show title was and pretty much removed the mc the second half of the season. Most episodes only show her doing basically nothing for a few minutes, and two episodes don't show her AT ALL. This would be fine if the first half of the season didn't have you so heavily invested in her story, just to pull the rug out from under you and show a bunch of people you don't care about. It effectively makes half of the series feel like filler episodes.

Essentially, the writers are milking this show as much as they can and seemingly waiting for a second season to even get into her story. The last 10 episodes could be condensed into 2 and it would get the same point across. While there is still one episode left to be aired, I find it hard to believe that it will erase my thoughts on the previous mc-less 10 episodes. I will update my review if that happens.

Very sad to see because this was turning to be my favorite anime of the season. If you are a fan of filler episodes you will more than likely enjoy the second half more than I did.
