The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain (2019)
Watch this - Consider it a public service.
"depending on who you are, the sight of an officer can produce either a warm sense of safety and contentment or a plummeting feeling of terror"
Watch this movie and read that again.
Based on just one true story and over a decade after the events took place, this film is still painfully relevant. You'll likely spend the credits sitting in silence - recovering and trying to process what you just witnessed. All poor reviews so far seem to have missed the point and/or thought it was fiction.
No matter where you live in this world, but especially if you are white (yes Australia, us too), please, watch this film. Check your privilege and let your perspective change with it.
Gandhi (1982)
Every human being should watch this movie.
This film is remarkable in every way which is a tall order given the man's life. A healthy reminder to question yourself at least once in your lifetime, about what being on the right side truly means to you.
What was that dear review reader? You're hesitant because it's ancient history / it was made 40 years ago / set in a different country / about a different culture? I guarantee you won't give that a second thought until you're hit by an unsuspected ad-break. If I'm wrong, you're either not honestly asking or you're not paying attention.
Yes, it is long. Take your time, you'll need it.
Now go.
Watch.
PS Dear Dad, I would like apologise for every time that I rolled my eyes as a kid when you said taking the moral high ground doesn't mean backing down from the fight. It finally clicked... There is a fundamental truth that transcends and yet encompasses every religion or belief system - the value of a human life.
