Broken Soldier (2022)
If Dostoyevsky Wrote Comic Books
I cannot describe how I feel about this movie. It was absolutely horrible. So much so that I think I liked it. But it'll take me weeks to digest everything I just saw as I'm unsure any of it really makes sense; a war vet, a girl, a father, and a hooker. That would make a good love triangle, except the father was married, and a friend of the girl was jealous of the war vet, and he had a hard time believing that the war vet and his crush's father were both paying the hooker, and no girls liked him... So it makes perfect sense that in the end, the hooker cooks dinner for the entire family. And sits down and eat with them. The one thing, one thing I don't understand, is the relationship and purpose of the grandfather, except he is some sort of sideshow antagonist.
I encourage you to watch this film. It's like eating a Slim Jim. So bad for you, but, ohhhh, so good.

Radiohead Easter Eggs
Pretty good movie that does a decent job of keeping the viewer interested as the plot progresses. While I enjoy horror flicks, this one is a bit gory as well. Which, while normally not my genre, was palatable. No pun intended. The premise is not all that hard to believe either. So much spotlight is being put on the bourgeoisie and their human trafficking, why not spotlight their insatiable appetite for evil with devouring the proletariat with a bolognese sauce.
Now for the Radiohead explanation. There is a painting shown with naked women in a garden and what appears to be a figure of Death in the weeds. I immediately thought of the song "All I Need," off of their In Rainbows album. Next thing I know the movie is playing a classical version of "Exit Music for a Film," while the main characters are in the kitchen.
These were exquisite Eater, I mean Easter Eggs. Danke.
End of the Road (2022)
To Racially Charged
This reminded me of a racist cops and robbers movie from the 70's with roles of races switched to accommodate a new era in bad theater and hatefulness being sewn through scripts in Hollywood these days. The weak plot is not the biggest disappointment. It was not bad acting. It is the predictable characters and the obvious cliches. Writers tried too hard to make decent one liners. They came out poorly timed and not funny.
I think that the saving grace for this film and why I was able to give it more than one star was the young actor Shaun Dixon. He earned the other stars for my rating. He was awesome and you can tell he worked hard in the role. I look forward to seeing him in future movies.
It could have been a much better movie had it not try so hard to be racist. It was almost cartoonish. So unnecessary and unwanted in this country's current atmosphere.
