Turtles All the Way Down (2024)

Get ready to dive into plot holes and an ending which could have been much better.

I really liked this movie, till it reached midway. And then it was performance and story "all the way down". If you've read the book, this movie is not as great, and considering I rated the book a 3/5 due to high amount of repetition of things, the movie is more bearable.

So hear me out, the movie is good, the acting is good. The problem is the way they implemented the plot, which was an attempt to cover everything, but poorly. The entire plotline revolving around Davis's dad could be explored way more, but it wasn't which made it just a very poorly touched part, which people who've not read the book might not even understand well.

Now let's get upon my problem with the ending, I really wanted it to not end in a stereotypical way. If they did attempt to try and touch upon an issue such as OCD, maybe I would have liked a little bit more bold end, but what can a person expect!

Overall, decent watch.

Love by Chance (2018–2020)

Nice show, the second season felt repetitive

The show in itself was very good. The acting was very well done and the side couple was absolutely beautiful. There was another potential side couple whose story wasn't completed so we never know what they were. But the second season had its problems.

The side couple story seemed repeated and the main couple story they made us fall in love with on season 1 was deconstructed in season 2.

Overall a decent watch for the lovely side couple.

Why R U? (2020)

The typical BL show with better chemistry

The show was nice. The chemistry between the lead ship was fire. Cinematography decent, the filming looked pretty filtered though.

Now the demerits, loads of characters that couldn't be done justice to. There were some couples who's stories were not completed and just left like that.

But overall a decent BL on the good side!

Kissable Lips (2022)

Decent vampire KBL

Kissable lips was a good watch which had its own problems but overall I enjoyed it. The chemistry between the leads was extraordinary and the kissing scene was better than any other KBL till date.

The storyline in the last ep was a bit out of place but the execution of it all felt decent to me.

Overall, you can definitely go for this short watch to appreciate the chemistry that the protagonists had!

Behind Cut (2021–2022)

Started so well and died with time

This KBL had a lot of potential and when I say this I mean a lot of potential. The first 2 eps hit me so hard I loved everything but then the story started getting confusing and ultimately became a mess.

Things are happening and I can't understand why and how...it was a bit disappointing considering the raise in expectations due to the good start.

Overall, there are better KBLs in the market and you can skip through this one if not necessary.

Tinted with You (2021–2022)

Cute, short KBL

This show was really cute and I personally really liked it.

Me scoring it a 8/10 has few reasons including the vfx in the first 2 eps and the more or less typical BL story line but the acting, cinematography was pretty well done.

Overall a decent KBL, that is pure fluff and an enjoyable short duration watch.

My Sweet Dear (2021)

Typical story which could have had a better execution

I was really liking this show with the first few eps but the vibe started dying with time.

It was a decent show but if you wanna go for a KBL there are a lot more better than this one. The acting was decent but the story felt lacking to me.

Overall, this is a series you can watch if you're really wanting to otherwise it is a pass.

Bad Buddy (2021–2022)

The typical BL trope with better chemistry than others?

It might have been our typical BL story but the chemistry between the leads is what made this show a stand out. As per my personal preference it wasn't my favorite but it was a really good show.

It talked about issues while still being light and funny and I loved Pran's character. The side characters did a very good job and the show overall is a must watch!

3 Will Be Free (2019)

Crisp show that I really enjoyed

This was a really good show and if you're looking for something in the genre of action and crime this series can become your go-to show. I loved the story and the acting. The cinematography was well done and the diverse portrayal was commendable.

It'll keep you at the edge of your seat till the very end and leave you in an awe!

Guardian (2018)

Good show that had more potential

It was a good show, The VFX could have been better.

The portrayal of the characters was very good, the way the connections were formed was also good. What I found lacking was a more intimate connection emotionally between the main protagonists which I couldn't feel before ep 38!

Overall the 40 episodes were not really required and they could have focused more on the quality than just the duration but it was a good watch if you're into fantasy and are looking for something good!

Word of Honor (2021)

One of the best shows I've ever seen

Going into watching this, I did not have high expectations, but the wat this show will grip onto you is incredible. Every moment that feeling of wanting to know what will happen next is just beyond what I can explain.

The acting is very well done. The story, the cinematography on point.

The chemistry between the cast is just incredible and I fell in love with this show. Everyone should watch this show once not just for the chemistry but for the incredible sense of emotions that it stimulates inside of us.

Peach of Time (2021)

Portrayal of family relationship done well!

You need to watch peach of time with a free mind because it doesn't stick to being just a BL. The element that I loved the most wasn't even the relationship between the protagonists but the mother-son relationship that was beautifully acted.

It is a really good series with a good length in comparison to other BLs. Just one plot hole, rest all good. Also giving us an out of the box side couple which I liked.

Definitely worth watching!

But I need a season 2 of it just because they have to give us more after that ending scene!

Method (2017)

The fine line between theatre and reality

Method is all about the method. Lots of times we fail to distinguish between what the actors play and what reality it holds.

This movie places a beautiful imagery of those experiences. A bit slow paced and simple, you need to watch it till the end to realize the beauty it holds.

The play was a perfect culmination of all emotions, beautifully acted out.

Altogether you can definitely watch this movie if you are willing to immerse yourself in the experience of what goes on behind the scenes or rather backstage!

Night Flight (2014)

I'm still sobbing

This movie is the kind of art and reality we are lacking in the content nowadays. Absolutely raw movie which will make you experience all kinds of emotions in the 2-hour long watch.

The actors have done a beautiful job in portraying the characters. It is an emotional turmoil which unwraps the reality as it progresses.

A bit slow paced at the beginning but is very successful in landing the blow at our soft spot.

An absolute must watch if you can handle the emotions that the movie will make you experience.

My Beautiful Man (2021– )

One of the best Japanese BLs

If you don't just look for fluff while watching a series, this is for you.

Utsukushii kare is a beautiful journey that will make us realize a lot that we don't.

Even though I know a lot of people who did not really understand the depth that is portrayed in the series, I think it was very heartwarming and realistic.

Both the characters beautifully written and acted so so well. The story will slowly grow on you and will make you dread for more from them, which I'm not sure about as this is adapted from a novel.

Acting 10/10 Story 10/10.

The Boy Foretold by the Stars (2020)

Heartwarming movie, must watch!

This movie grows on you in a very slow fashion. Very well written and very well acted, I loved this movie.

Both the protagonists did a great job to make you feel all the emotions that they were feeling at the moment. I loved the way the character Dominic was written, very elegant and realistic.

I absolutely adored the way they explained destiny which without giving spoilers you all need to watch.

The movie will make you cuddle into a ball while crying your heart out in sorrow and happiness.

The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity (2020)

Time to ignore the low ratings and watching it!

The Yin Yang Master was a beautiful movie. I thoroughly loved and enjoyed it. Very well done acting by all cast members.

Scenic beauty and beautiful costumes with a good story and well done music, I really liked every aspect of the film.

The only reason why I won't rate it a 10/10 is the VFX quality which could have been better.

Other than that, I think you should definitely give it a watch!!

My Love Mix-Up! (2021)

Progression with not the best final result

Keita Hatsukoi was an enjoyable watch but didn't emerge out to be extra ordinary.

First few episodes were beautiful, I loved the play that took place and I loved Aoki's character development, which are the reasons for the good enough rating that I'm giving this show.

As the show went on it started to lack in the quality that was seen in initial episodes, and they could have been better written. But keeping in mind that this show is adapted from a manga and not written separately, I'll ignore that point.

Altogether a cute, fluffy show without a really thrilling or out of ordinary storyline.

The Boy Next Door (2017)

If you want comedic relief, this is the series for you!

When I started watching the series I thought I was in for a BL rom-com, it isn't exactly that so don't start watching it thinking that.

Its just a good comedy K-drama which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Definitely would have liked to see the protagonists enthrall us with more than what they did due to all the tension and attention that was created onto them which could also have been a good reason why we need a season 2.

Overall definitely watch it if you are looking for some laughs and thorough enjoyment!

Crossing the Line (2018)

Worth watching!

Crossing the line is a subtle story with good plot line, characters and acting.

The plotline could have been a bit better and the end could also have been a bit better by extending it by 1 or 2 episodes maybe but you might find the end decent enough.

The main ship and the side ships are both good, though the side ship could have gotten a better storytelling.

Not the best History series according to me but you can definitely give it a watch. Overall I'd rate it an 8/10.

Hello, Stranger (2020)

Better than Gameboys

Considering the hype that surrounds Gameboys, I felt this series was much better than that. Gameboys felt like a cute cringey series, which kind of didn't make sense with some of its content which you'll not feel with this series.

It felt more on the mature side compared to Gameboys and pretty similar in the cinematography.

Could this have been better? Yes.

Was it worth the watch? One time, yes So sure you can watch it for another online mode BL which has a zoom call kind interface.

The acting by the leads was good, as for the side roles, they also did justice to their part.

My Day (2020– )

Decent, not too good or too bad

This series either has very good or very bad reviews but tbh it is a very medium quality series.

Some scenes are extremely poor but some were really great. The storyline had potential but was twisted in an unnecessary kind of way.

The community is shown in a weird light here with over dramatization but is given respect is what I liked. Some plot holes are also present which makes things even worse.

Overall a decent series which you can watch if you can suffer chaotic and cheesy drama.

Seven Days: Monday - Thursday (2015)

Make sure to watch the second part too

When one watches this movie it may feel incomplete but there is another part of it, Seven Days: Friday- Sunday, that is necessary to be seen in order to understand the story completely.

It is a subtle movie like Japanese movies it takes you to a realm of emotions with a teen storyline.

Overall a good movie to watch, could have been better, but you can definitely give it a watch.

I don't understand the reason for all these low ratings but this movie is not that bad.

I saw it a while ago so I can't write precise details but as far as I remember it was pretty good, acting was well done the story was also nicely continued from Seven Days: Monday - Thursday.

So you can definitely give it a watch. It is a subtle Japanese BL movie.

Long Time No See (2017)

Had a lot of potential

The story had so much potential which was definitely utilized but not up to the potential.

It is a good crime/romance series to watch. Good story and acting in a very short period of time, so very watchable.

Some plot holes left due to the short timing but otherwise a very good mini series that you can definitely give it a watch.
