WALL·E (2008)
What's happening to Pixar?
I loved Pixar. I grew up with Pixar. Both the Toy Stories, Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Cars, Monster's Inc. But since last year, there's been plenty of room for improvement. Ratatouille was so-so, 7.5/10. It had some good elements. I'm not sure if Pixar's growing down or if I'm growing up, but this movie was pretty dull. The short film at the beginning is wonderful, 10/10. But the movie itself was not. There were quite a few laugh out loud scenes. (Like when WALLE and EVE kiss with their foreheads and he floats away, or when he continually scratches M-Os floor.) But most of it was not entertaining. Keep in mind I'm almost 14, but I've been the biggest Pixar fan ever my whole life. So maybe this review isn't perfect for a 12-15 year old. It may be very well suited to a 5-8 year old.
Read It and Weep (2006)
Very Nice.
I could relate to this movie. The actresses did a great job. Some people say it's unlikely a girl would write stuff in her journal like "With a flick of her finger, Is ZAPPED Myrna and her vicious clique into perpetual detention." 1) That would result in early conflict, thus, in early movie. TRUST ME ON THIS. Besides, how do you think writers write so you can feel your actually there, it's a real experience? They take they're own real life events and change it around. The reason it got an eight instead of a ten is because that scene in gym. She's writing on her tablet. Wouldn't a gym teacher punish her? They punish people for every other little offense, why not miss this one? This is an awesome movie, don't get me wrong, very nice.
Miracle Run (2004)
Awesome, but not believable.
I have a nearly 9 year old brother, who also is a 'High-Functioning' autistic. The only problem is, they don't actually understand the definition. Yeah, they throw occasional tantrums, but my brother throes them if you touch his toy or whatever.
Bottom line. Not realistic, but funny at the trouble they think they can do. (Go fishing in their PJ's, thinking a movie is a good influence on behavior, etc.) 8/10.
But my little brother's much, much different. Maybe it's the type or level of autism, I don't know.
Autism is not what they are portraying. They're portraying autistics as dopes. They aren't.
