So freaking good, especially if you watch the full Director's cut!
14 May 2024
This is just truly a masterpiece in my opinion. We simply don't get many high quality films in older history, especially with something as complex as the Crusades. Orlando Bloom is absolutely incredible in this film and I have no clue why he isn't still doing epic blockbusters to this day. It seriously blows my mind. Not everything is accurate in the film obviously as Sybilla never loved Balian in real life, but I can see why that was intertwined in. Edward Norton as the Leper King Baldwin IV steals every line and scene he is in and if there is one stumble, it's that he should have been in more scenes. If you love history, this is just can't miss.

Break Point (2023–2024)

I'm a tennis fanatic so any inside show on the players I welcome!
30 March 2024
But for some reason, some people don't like....everything. Lol People are angry that Novak, Iga, Rafa, Sinner and Alcaraz aren't on the show. Well you can't force them to be. I'm sorry but that's not how it works. In fact, I think it's more interesting to not be following the top players as we get so much coverage of them anyways. In fact, I kind of wish they had done an episode or 2 (one with a young person and another with an aging veteran) with some of the Challengers level players to see how those guys and gals are fighting to just survive. That would have been SUPER interesting. Apparently, the show has been canceled. I just don't get it. Was it perfect? No. But more inside tennis content is more inside tennis content. People are INSANE.

I think it's a fun show, with an engaging premise, and there's nothing else really like it out there
12 February 2024
I'm not sure what makes people happy these days, everything and I mean EVERYTHING gets so much hate on imdb. If it's a science show, hate about the science (even if you have no degree in the science and the writers have Phd's). Nevertheless, I love this premise of being alone in a difficult wilderness and trying to survive. Let's face it, homo sapiens lived this for 99% of our existence. We had to find a way to survive in winter, jungles, deserts, etc. Some people are angry they get a fire starter but I don't think the producers want people to actually die. Then others are convinced it's completely scripted, which if true, then that guy that passed out and smashed his head from South Africa is a better actor than Brad Pitt. If you hate something, maybe you should live by that golden proverb to just let others have their fun and keep your mouth shut.

The Creator (2023)

Starts out amazing, ends horrifically
26 December 2023
The first 30 minutes is masterpiece stuff. Especially in a current moment where Hollywood is striking against the future of AI taking their and many others jobs. But then suddenly the plot flips the script and makes humans the bad guys, just destroying any semblance of believability. Especially when robots in the film suddenly have compassion and human emotions of 'good' and all humans can display is 'bad'. Well except the main character of course. But moving along with a robots are good and humans are bad trope everything becomes simply moronic from that point forward. And apparently, the only person with a heart left is our main guy, Joshua. Lol Watch it for the graphics as they are astounding, but the rest you can send to the robot trash compactor.

Totally enthralled with it!
26 October 2023
I'm guessing people just get angry that it's Morgan Freeman narrating and not David Attenborough? I just don't get the complaints these days about these type of things. My only beef is the special effects actually feel like a slight drop from Prehistoric Planet, which is odd since PP Season 1 was 2 years ago now. Other than that, I absolutely love all of it. Watching the planet get engulfed by smoke was fascinating, though they could have gone deeper and into some new angles of what actually killed the dinasaurs as there was raining hot glass among other things. Still I always feel lucky when a Documentary like this arrives, whether it's Planet Earth or Prehistoric Planet or Cosmos, etc. These are the shows that keep me going best. Give me more science and history shows!

The League (I) (2009–2015)

One of the funniest shows to ever exist!
26 October 2023
Yes I said it. This show had no right to be the masterpiece that it was, yet it just kept getting funnier and funnier each episode. A part of me saddened after the last episode, knowing that fantasy football will live on for eons but the only show that paid it perfect fan service was over. Whomever wrote for this show should get an honorary Emmy. Like I can't even imagine someone coming to you with the premise of 'it's a show about a group of dudes and chicks that have a fantasy football league and they'll do anything to win'. Like it could have gone so South and yet it went the opposite direction. It also launched some careers: Duplass, Kroll, and especially Mountuzakas who was the funniest character on the enitre show and one of the funniest of all time in a tv series. Bravo!

The funniest movie ever made for me personally
21 October 2023
But it definitely isn't for everyone! If you are into the dark comedies of today, then this film is going to make you cringe in your pretentious black spectacles. But what I like about this film along with Eurotrip is they are the first films I can recall that built much of the comedy and jokes off how naive Americans can be about the rest of the world, especially Europe, where most can stake claim with ancestry. The movie almost invents it's own language and has reached such cult status that even today I hear friends scream out quotes from the film. The low score only tells me how ignorant most people can be when it comes to fun humor and how difficult that is to illict in people. My only sad part for all this, is that they never made Weedfest. :(

One of the most important Documentaries ever created, that almost nobody will watch lol
17 September 2023
I know that people are STUBBORN. They will make any excuse possible to not give up their meats, their smoking, their drinking, their lack of exercise/movement, etc, especially by ignoring this show or even giving it a terrible review. But the show is clear, those things WILL kill you 99/100 much faster. I think what I enjoyed most about the series is the comprehensiveness of the blue zones. Each blue zone had it's own unique characteristics and Dan attempted to stay away from overlap if possible (of course there is some overlap). The pie graph was a super fun and helpful visual guide! Do I agree with absolutely everything? Not all of it, but most is common sense that many people don't want to hear. I hope the show continues to gain steam and increase viewers, so we can get a 2nd season!

I loved every minute of it! The wildest video game story to come to fruition by far!
2 August 2023
Alright did they obviously embellish some parts of the story? Of course, and we get some of the stereotypical Russian bad guys schtick (but they really are kind of bad guys a lot right?). Taron is once again all in for this film (this guy just doesn't miss!) and it's great to see some actual Russian actors and actresses. All 4 Russian actors Nikita Efremov, Oleg Stefan, Igor Grabuzov and especially Sofya Lebedeva deserve high praise for their work on the film! I knew some of the story going into it, being a gaming history addict and instructor, but seeing it laid out was a treat. Bravo work everybody!

South Park: Deep Learning (2023)

Easily in my top 5 South Park episodes ever
18 July 2023
Cutting edge, poignant, hilarious, and trendy. Amazing how much Trey and Matt still have their thumb on the pulse of modern current events in society as AI just went nuts. I'm guessing that AI really did help them write the episode which just blows my mind. :) I'd love to see them tackle the art AI's like midjourney too. I'm also pleased that they took a mostly negative stance against AI as that's how I mostly feel. Yes, it has it's place (for ideas and concepts) but it's still just cheating in the end if all you do is turn in an AI created piece of writing or artwork. The additional just hilarious add ins like the nerd kid taking forever to pee also just got me. Trey and Matt have lost nothing with South Park still. Loved it!

If you are here for the money Dinosaurs...
20 June 2023
...then this is your episode! Because you get both the T-Rex and Triceratops all in cozy North America. Though I'm still unsure even 2 giant pterodactyls could scare off T-Rex from a meal! :) Nevertheless, the final Professor portion is the best in the 2 seasons as they go into nice detail about the frill puposes of the Triceratops. Hopefully, we get a Season 3 and this final section is expanded to at least 10 minutes of Professor breakdowns and two parts of the episode and not just one. We also receive a great chase scene in this episode so those into the cheetah chases on nature shows will like this. Best show ever!

This was a parody for fun people. OMFG
16 June 2023
The amount of people on here that are giving this masterpiece a lower score 'because it's not historically accurate' is sad and frigthening. It was to have fun with the time period you boxed in brains. If you want to watch a documentary, then go watch one, there are plenty on knight's, Chaucer, smithing, hell pretty much anything in the medival age you desire. This film was about entertainment. I mean having a Queen song literally being danced and stomped to by the public to start the film should have probably clued you in immediately, but apparenlty that wasn't enough! Neverytheless, I just LOVE Bettany's Chaucer in the film. Worth it just for him alone.

Spectacular to finally see the Ammonite story!
14 June 2023
We often want to know about the largest dinosaurs but really the dinosaurs we find the most often in rocks around the world are ammonites! Little shell creatures that that were predatory mollusks that resembled squids and were in the seas for a whopping 400 million years! They are most closely related to the octopus and the shell resembled a nautilus. Like most of the dinosaurs the ammonites went exctinct 66 million years ago with the Chixulub meteor crash at the end of the Cretaceous. This is the first time I've ever personally seen them talked about in a Dino Doc, so it was quite thrilling. And the CG art so delicate and awesome. We also get the most thorough in depth look of the 50 foot sea Mosasaur that we've received in any dino documentary to this point!

The return of the MIGHTY TRex!
11 June 2023
We finally make it to America and it's prehistoric swamplands. I found it super interesting to see those dinosaur comparisons with present day animals like the head butting male dominance display of the pachycephalosaurs. In particular, this episode had the 2 best CG Dinos I've ever seen on screen: Beelzebufo (Devil Toad) and their new and better T-Rex. But the devil toad expecially is just absurd. There are interactions it has with water that just all seems real. It's just mindblowing special effects. As well, the TRex's feel like they are actually in the wilderness right there, which makes them even more frightening. Best show of 2023!

Prehistoric Planet: Badlands (2023)

Another exquisite episode of prehistoric learning!
8 June 2023
I love how the show is not merely focused on the 'money' Dinosaurs like T-Rex, Triceratops, Duckbill, etc. In this episode, we get to follow some lesser known but equally important Dinos that roamed the Badlands of the Deccan in central India: Isisaurs, Nemegtasaurs, Mongolian Titanosaurs, Prenocephale, Corythoraptors, Kuru Kulla, Tarchia, and Rajasaur! None of these would be your book cover Dinos, which is what makes this show so special! I still cannot for the life of me understand why David Attenborough isn't credited on this 2nd Season's episodes. It's certainly hurting the visibility of the show right now. :/

Rome (2005–2007)

Simply a masterpiece.
7 June 2023
One of the only shows ever created that never feels cheesy or poorly done in any aspect: acting, story, set design, costume wardrobe, action, drama. In fact, it IS the best historical based tv show of all time period (Vikings is 2nd imo). I'd even go on to say that I'm shocked it doesn't have a 9+ overall rating on imdb. Blasphemy. There are times that I seriously think it's real Rome. It's so sad that I'm writing this review after Ray's passing as he really should have received even better parts after this show, same for McKidd too. In fact, how is McKidd never cast in an action show since this!? He's just not made for things like Grey's Anatomy imo. Please get Kevin back in an action based historical show please. How about McKidd and Travis Fimmel together in say a Greek show? Alexander the Great and Ptolemy? The Crusades? Something!

Prehistoric Planet: Islands (2023)
Season 2, Episode 1
10/10
Season 2 just ups the ante especially on the quality of the Dinos!
1 June 2023
Many of the shots just look like the Dinos are really there. The first season was nice on Dino quality but Season 2 took it to another level. Probably the best CG Dinos ever created. I love the format as it plays off like a Scientific Documentary movie. I guess my only beef would be that the last part with the Professors was a bit longer. This first episode had only a 5 minute piece with 3 Profs and that could easily be doubled to 10 minutes. Regardless, Prehistoric Planet continues to be my favorite show on the television. Things I learned: There are Pterosaurs larger than giraffes! Pterosaurs hunted while walking; Dinos loved the isolation of islands. Love it!

P. S. I do think the creators of the show need to credit David Attenborough so it shows up on his IMDB page for Season 2! Many people, including myself, go to his page to see what he has last worked on so they can watch it. And Prehistoric Planet 2 is not showing up. Losing a LOT of viewers that way...

THIS is my fave go to Astronomy Show! And I watch them all ;)
29 May 2023
How the Universe Works has been one of my favorite shows for at least 5 years now. I truly don't think there is a show on the same level (Cosmos with Sagan and Tyson is great also however), when you have like 10 Astrophysicists talking each episode. I also think the show has vaulted up it's CG art lately which has certainly helped the quality of the episodes (I care because I'm a CG Art Professor myself ;). It bothers me that more people aren't watching but the topics are pretty deep, obviously. However, the improved CG art will facilitate conjuring more to the show I hope. I can't wait for future shows as I'm really enjoying Season 11 and I'd love to make a request on 2 shows: 1. The Dyson Sphere and how that would work and could we harness the energy of the Sun? 2. Theories on how we'd leave our own Solar System (if we humans make it) in 5 billion years. The latest episode touched on living on Pluto for a bit and then heading off somewhere else. I want to know to 'where else'? :)

There's just some magic to this show
7 April 2023
I love my wildlife docs with Attenborough but I always feel like we don't get to meet the people doing the dirty work that actually are making a difference in the world of conservation. Well here's your show. The entire premise is to get out there with the people and see what they are doing to make an impact on biomes, cultures, wildlife, etc. This episode was no different. I especially loved the Tasmanian Devil farm and how Zac and Darin are not only into it all but willing to try anything. I mean it takes some balls to grab one of those devils and I never hear either complain, they just do it. Love the vibe of this show.

One of the most shockingly fun shows I've ever seen
4 April 2023
Like this had no right to be good. Lol Take a celeb and have them talk about saving the planet. But what makes this work is Zac is seriously into this stuff. Then throw in his charismatic personality (I mean he is a celeb for a reason), his great chemistry with his friend who actually brings some nice science behind what they are doing, and the gorgeous locales and bam, we have the shocker show of the decade so far. Hehe It's even more wild that they were able to shoot this entire new season 2 in 1 country. But if you were gonna pick one, I'd think Australia is just about the best you could come up with. Season 3!

By the way, I see some reviews picking on Darin for some odd reason. But I figured it out. He's vegan and that angers some people off to make up bogus claims. How petty and sad.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 19: The Convert (2023)
Season 3, Episode 3

This was the worst Mandalorian episode for me
30 March 2023
I get that Favreau wants to show how the clones came to be. But did we really need to follow around the little horny nerd for 45 minutes? And some of this episode just makes no sense. Like why would he trust this chick to this level so fast? Does he just want to get with her? I don't get it. And the last scene of these two in the 'mind flayer' is so beyond awful. So Pershing dork is screaming he was set up by this girl and the republic dudes just discount everything he says in favor of her? Why? Like completely!? They aren't even hesitant a little bit about the situation!? Lol They are so sure they leave her in the operating room alone!? I give up on this episode. :( Lastly, I really thought this season Grogu would be doing some cool shiz, but all he does is just follow around Djin in his hover pod and do nothing. That makes me sad. I'm a true Mandalorian fantatic but this season has left me depressed :/

Vastly improved from that 1st episode of Season 3
13 March 2023
Whew! I was nervous there! That first of episode 3 is the worst singular Mandalorian episode that I can recall and thought the down slope was gonna happen. This episode, though not a masterpiece was quite fun and entertaining. Thank goodness this series switches up Directors! The more Grogu is on screen the better. Haha The bad 'henchman' still tend to be so generic, this time cave dwellers? But at least the main bad guy of this episode is SUPER cool. I was hoping Katee was gonna get more screen time finally in Mandalorian and it looks like it's happening, so I'm all for that. I personally don't understand the running plot of Din wanting to be back in good graces with armorer lady but it makes for nice adventures at least. :)

The Mandalorian: Chapter 17: The Apostate (2023)
Season 3, Episode 1
8/10
This was weaker than usual
5 March 2023
I'm not sure, but maybe it was the Andor effect, as Andor was so adult and incredible and this felt more childish and rushed. Also, we are tracking multiple storylines now? I also kind of wish they did the robot workers as CG and not puppets as those things moved horribly. I guess Mandalorian is going with these basement looking alien pirates as the bad guys now, which could use so much more sinister variety. I thought Grogu would be a tad more grown up by now after living with Luke for a few years. But he's still cooing and not behaving. Still, it's Star Wars and I always smile when I get new Star Wars content. And history has shown that this show can bounce back because each episode gets a new Director.

Zombieland (2009)
10/10
This is one of my top 5 favorite films
26 February 2023
Just everything about Zombieland oozed creativity. I loved how they merged horror with comedy without going too far with it. And this movie also made several acting careers with Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone. The entire cast is just so perfect with each other and Woody Harrelson just has so many iconic lines. I also just loved the list for surviving in the Zombie Apocalypse created by Columbus and then seeing Tallahassee break it down that many just aren't necessary. I had been dreaming of a sequel for many years and finally got it, though I think it got a bit too Hollywood where the original is so subtle, the sequel takes things a tad far. Still, this is one of the most entertaining films ever made in my opinion.
