I Love You Phillip Morris (2009)
yes!
Ewan McGregor being a UwU softboi for an hour and a half... Steven Russell: the paragon of 'be gay, do crimes!' This is what happens when the neglected/abandoned middle child grows up.
How to Be a Man (2013)
"This is cringy and sad and pathetic but maybe I should cut the dying man some slack and oh wait... what a waste"
Sabotaging everything, screwing up his job, his relationship, and roping a lonely 22 year old into his reckless escapades, the whole 'how to be a man' thing is kind of what I expected of a dude-bro-man-child dying of breast cancer. And this movie should have stuck with just that and it would've been a decent enough film.
It would've been something else if it just went out of its way and embraced the vice and be offensive with abandon but it's not that. It's just not clever about anything. The pathetically long scene of 'i was explaining to this dude how to eat out a woman and it was so cool and funny and everybody at the bar cheered and applauded' is just deplorable and pitiful and you just sit through it because oh well the poor guy is a pathetic, dilapidated little dying man.
And he's not even dying. What was the point of all this fratboy fantasy?
Love (2016)
Oh, Britta's in this?
I wish I could say I found it endearing but it's just toe-curlingly awkward. I don't even think it's trying to be funny. It's just one 'yeesh!' after another but I think that's fine because obviously that's what the show runners were going for. I'd be surprised if people even like any of the characters. And to the people saying that's the point of the show, I get it. We get it. I tried. But it's just a painfully tiring watch. I watched the first episode about a year ago and then dropped it. I picked it up a few days ago, thinking I was finally in the right head space, and made it till the first episode of season 2. I don't think I'll go any further. It just wasn't for me.
The 10 Year Plan (2014)
How can an adult person be so emotionally immature!?
I wish I could say this movie was cute but honestly it just pissed me off.
Kevin Can F**k Himself (2021)
It's good. Like really good. You should watch it good.
It's heartbreaking seeing the sitcomy scenes because they're supposed to be funny (well they're not but like a sitcom is supposed to... you get what i mean. Anyway) but they just blatantly show how much neglect and manipulation Allison deals with. Allison is coping however she can; be it cranking up the 'sitcom-inator' to 100 as soon as she's in the vicinity of her "larky" husband or finally snapping and attempting a mariticide. The veil of laugh tracks is just too thin for anybody in their right mind to think it's just for corny comic relief in a kitschy crime drama. The show does what it set out to do. It's creative and Annie Murphy is great in it. People need to see it. (there'll be a season two and oh it's gonna be good!)
