Fargo (1996)
One of my all time favourites
There are not many movies you can watch over and over and still find them just as, or even more, entertaining than the first time. This is one of them.
This is by far the Coen brothers best work. The story is hilarious and sad at the same time. The actors all do an excellent job, especially William Macy, Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare. (Steve Buscemi is hilarious when he tries to get rid of a cop and after he has been shot!) The setting in the snowy, cold landscape makes the movie even more chilling than it already is. And all the little stories in between that has no direct connection with the story line makes it all very real. If you don't appreciate this movie, I guess you just don't like black comedies. A STRONG 9/10!
Pet Sematary (1989)
One of my favourites in this genre!
This is one of my all time favourite horror movies. I've also read the book and must say that this is maybe the most true to the book movie I have ever seen! Great acting, great filming and very creepy surroundings! VERY creepy!!
I na kamnyakh rastut derevya (1985)
The movie that makes "Plan 9 from outer space" look like a masterpiece!
Norwegian film industry is known for terrible movies. When it teams up with Soviet film industry the result is already given. The movie is about a Russian boy who gets kidnapped by Norwegian vikings. The vikings think he means good luck and after some time he sort of becomes one of them. The main plot is this boring love story between him and a girl. They can't have each other because she is meant to marry someone else etc.etc. But the funniest thing about this movie is the complete lack of directing, complete lack of acting skills, and the artificial way ALL the dialog is spoken. The battle scenes are just hilarious. It looks like the actors are just doing what they feel like, and that they have been given no instructions at all. For example there is a scene where a character gets hit in the back with a sword, but since he is not meant to die there, absolutely nothing happens!
In the movie Ed Wood, Johnny Depp as Ed Wood says "Perfect!" after every scene shot, even when there are a lot of errors in the scene. That must be exactly the way this movie has been made. If you want a really fun time: Watch this and laugh!!
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
I agree! A classic!
Like so many others have said here: This is a christmas classic. It just isn't christmas until you have watched this. I especially like the scene where he beats up his little plastic Santa and where he flips completely at the end saying things like "when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse!" Hilarious!!
The Emperor's New Groove (2000)
Hilarious!!
This is one the funniest movies I've seen. I borrowed this after I had seen some clips which I thought looked a little funny. But I did not expect to be laughing all the way throughout. I'm not a big fan of Disney cartoons, usually thinking they are a little boring, but this one put all that to a shame. And during the jump rope scene (I think I rewinded that 4 times) and that little scene with the trampoline I laughed so hard I got tears in my eyes! Highly recommended!
Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)
Awful!
I remember I loved this movie when it came out. I was 12 years old, had a Commodore 64 and loved to play Rambo on it. I was therefore really thrilled when I got to buy this movie really cheap. I put it in my VCR and started up: Man this movie is really bad! Sylvester Stallone says like 3 words in the entire movie (except for that awful sentimental speech at the end), and has the same expression on his face all the way. And that stupid love thing in the middle, it's just so amazingly predictable. I just ended up fast forwarding the entire thing and went to exchange the movie for something else.
Top Secret! (1984)
GREAT movie!
This is a VERY funny movie. Some of my favorite scenes are the German language course at the very beginning ("Eine Blitzen ist en der Flachmatuch... The pen is on the table") and when Nik & Hillary, having only known each other for a couple of minutes, engage in a very weird dance which everyone seems to know...
