Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Just another move with old men and young women
I am happy, that at least there are women in some key roles. And that hey are there not only to look pretty with little clothes on. They actually have quite a few lines in their roles. However, I am tired of these 'big-money' movies always selecting old men for the lead roles, and comparably younger women for the lower level roles. Not only younger women, because that seems to not be the only key criteria - but another key factor is that they must be beautiful and sexy. That criteria only applies to the women. Why is it, that for the male roles, it is ok, that they are older, wrinkled, floppy (even fat), etc. And it is not only some men in the movies that are older than the selected female actors, it is the main part of the leading male roles, that are older than the main part of their female counterparts. And why is it that males are chosen for leading roles, whlie females most often get the lower level supporting roles (of course some times also key roles, as in this example, but anyway, not leading).
R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned (2022)
Super fun with good morale
I enjoyed this movie a lot. Loved to put two women of color in somewhat of lead roles. Loved that the superhero was a woman with an extra twist. The only thing annoying is that the movie (as almost any other movie in this world) has an old man in the lead role with lots of old and semi old men in the cast, while the key female roles are comparably younger. Anyway, the jokes were super funny, the points were clear. Touching how things can ruin the world, such as racism, patriarchy, misogynistic (you know what I mean), capitalism. Touching how things can save the world, such as kindness, love, standing up against bullies, and truly trying to understand the world around you. 10 from my side.
Fear the Night (2023)
Mega cool
It is not because the story is new, because this type of story is a classic. What is new here is the savior role - in this case a female. Not a hero as such, but super tough and actionable - that not only doesn't hesitate to take decisions, but seems to take the right ones to have her dear ones survive. A lot of surprises, psychological terror, courage, cool fighting scenes, being united and split at the same time, and a lot of other good stuff.
It was great to finally see a movie with a female in this type of role, and not always a story written for a male actor. Thumbs up, and more of this please.

Older men with younger women???
Older men with younger women??? This time no!!! Finally! This time it's a movie of older women with steamy hot men. Wow, kudos to everyone daring to be part of making this movie - that must have taken a lot of courage to do so. Thank you. Because I am sick and tired of the normalization of older men with younger women, while it's a tabu to make a movie the other way around. Why? Almost all movies these days are of older men with younger women: Top gun Maverick, James Bond, Mission Impossible, Barbie, Batman, Ticket to Paradise, Twilight, Pretty Women, and I could go on... I am tired of our culture brainwashing girls and boys to think older men with younger women is the norm. So, again, thank you for this movie.
The movie is super funny and a little bit deep. I don't like the ending, but I love the the movie until then. Definitely worth watching.
Cinderella (2021)
I wish this had been my Cinderella story when I was growing up
I wish this had been my Cinderella story when I was growing up. Oh my dog!!! I love everything about it. Making Cinderella an independent young woman not bound by discriminating norms - I love it. She sets the standard, for what defines her happiness. Many so often these stories for children depict, teach, and encourage girls to have just one goal in life - namely to be pretty enough to find a man who will have her in HIS life, where she will just be... whatever the MAN wants her to be.
I love that this movie hosted so many female roles. I love that this movie is so funny, and has so many unexpected twists, jokes, and punchlines. The only thing I would change, would be to make the little sister the big sister instead, to really underline the discriminating view, that 'first born girls are useless'.
Snatched (2017)
Super funny female leads
This movie is super funny. It's so rare finding comedy movie with female leads. Here're two, and they nailed it. The story is not only funny, but also deep. Really deep emotional topics are conveyed through comic goofy conversations, one-liners, and body language. Well done. I both laughed out loud and had a small tear in my eyes.
Another perfect point about this movie, is that the main supporting roles were also two females - a crazy adventurous couple - and they also nailed their roles. Funny, crazy, and absurd. Typically, when I find movies with female leads, most of the supporting roles are still men. I loved that this movie also featured women in the two main supporting characters. However, almost all other supporting roles were men. I look forward to maybe one day it will be more equal.
Sentinelle (2021)
Women fighting patriarchy
Man seeks revenge after his wife and children are killed by an evil evil villain, and through his revenge he makes the world a better and safer place. Have you seen this movie a 100 times? However, this movie is different. This movie is not another stereotyping movie, of men with men for men, bla bla bla. FINALLY. This movie represents females in these roles... and I love it. A woman seeks to make the world a better place. This movie shows the power of women. Finally some representation of women in movies, contributing to fighting the patriarchy in many cultures around the world. Showing the power, the feelings, the love, the loyalty, the capability, and much more of women. And this movie does so, not in the classical stereotyping romantic comedy scenery, however instead, in what is stereotype perceived as being a man's domain: soldier, army, war.
Although this movie features females in lead roles, I dream of females also in other and supporting roles - e.g. As the villains. Typically, even when females have leading roles, almost all other roles are filled with men. This is also the case for this movie. It would be great to have a movie with females in leading roles, plus covering more than 50% of the remaining roles.
A little bit about the plot. Soldier (yes... female) returns home with some scars on her psyche. However, tries to find her place in life, learning to ope with her soldier experience. Her sister gets violated and raped, by a man who basically doesn't perceive women as persons. The soldier, realizing that evil will continue if not stopped, decides to take action. However, the soldier also realizes, that the patriarchy world will not stop this evil. So the soldier has to take matters into her own hands. And justice turns into revenge. The patriarchy might pertain, however one evil can be deleted.
Time of Death (2013)
Strong female lead adored by younger male character - yes!
Man in power meets younger women/girl through work, and she adores him. Nope! Not this time. Finally a movie with a strong female lead, where a younger man is assigned to work for her. The young man adores the older woman and falls in love. Finally on screen! I love it! This movie takes a big step of representing a female lead, most actors in the movie (including the extras) are stil men, men, men... maybe one day, we will see a movie, with more females than men. I wish.
Also not to forget to mention the storyline. Important topic. Exploited women, and boys/men misusing their power. I won't go into details... watch the movie!!!

Female lead with empathy and love
Great story, presumable based on real events. It has everything. Featuring plenty female leads, however it would be great to see even more female 'extras as well'. Adventure, mystery, magic, empathy, love, leadership, slavery, darkness, cruelty, action, etc. And the movie treats topics like forced marriage, 'this is not a place for women' mentality, women can't lead or be in power, polygyny (multiple wife's), general discrimination towards women, and how it often takes a farther with only daughters to stop discrimination towards girls and women. I liked the movie a lot.
Sex and the City 2 (2010)
A fun and inspiring contribution to the fight for equal rights
Not only is this movie super funny, with lots of snappy jokes, and hilarious moments. I found it also a great contribution to the movement on women's rights. It depicts many of the real tough challenges, that many women have throughout life. And how society and culture put a limit to what women should or even are allowed to do. Not only men limiting women, but women unconsciously limiting women - only because that's how they were raised. And here I actually refer to the bias limiting women even in the 'western' world, well illustrated through the journey in the movie to a Muslim country.
Kate (2021)
Crazy wild fun fascinating action
Although this movie (as almost EVERY movie) has a 95% male cast... I would like to say thank you for bringing a female lead onto the action screens. This movie shows women make fantastic bad ass action figures. May we have much more of this kind. And, it would be even better, if the rest of the cast could also level up to some 50/50 female/ male actors, so the female lead doesn't only plot and fight male figures. Anyway, mega cool.
The 5th Wave (2016)
Strong tough heroic women
I loved watching this movie, that had the courage to put a solo female lead, with men only there in the movie to tell HER story. She, a woman, goes on a heroic mission. During her difficult journey, she encounters trouble, and meets a few men for some romantic scenes. Other strong women are presented in a side stories of the movie. I loved it. Usually it's the other way around, hero men and useless women (only there to show some skin). Finally someone dared to feature a strong female lead. Thank you.
The Last Thing He Wanted (2020)
Strong female lead, that keeps you puzzled to the end
It's so rare to see female leads in movies, so first of all, thank you to all the decision makers, who made this movie happen. Thanks for daring. Thereafter, what a fantastic acting of Anne Hathaway. She takes us through deception, desire, desperation, danger, and much more. High-five from my side.
The Legend of Tarzan (2016)
Oh no, another movie with only men and men
... oh yes, sorry, with a couple of women, but they are only there to make the men even more the center of the universe. We need at least one useless and helpless woman, good looking of course, so the men has someone to save. NO, wrong, stop these movies with sexualized helpless women. It educates and encourages people to stay in these stupid discriminating stereotypes.
Charlie's Angels (2019)
Strong, smart, and funny women, yayyyy
A small but important step towards NOT objectifying women. In this movie film companies and filmmakers not only have the courage to present women as leading actors, but they allow them to be presented as women most often are - namely strong, smart, and funny. Finally... yayyyy... because I am tired of women being used only as eye-candy in a supporting role, only in the movie to present a man as a hero in the leading role.
Odd Thomas (2013)
Another stereotype story made even worse by demeaning sexualization of ALL the female actors
Again another stupid discriminating story with an 'interesting special hero-type' MALE actor, where every female around this role is only there to make this 'FANTASTIC' male look even more fantastic. This is a horrible way to maintain both men and women in these fictive stereotype roles. Forcing women to the perception, that their only purpose in life is to be eye-candy for men, and unlimitedly admire men. MEN who of course per default are heroic. And it leaves men with the perception, that MEN are the center of the universe, and women are only there to support MEN. The females of course are wearing as short shorts and as low cut T-shirts as possible. None of the men in the movie is sexualized.
The Vampire Diaries (2009)
Oh no, not another 'old men with young girls with the man as the center of the universe
Another old men with young girls, with the man as the center of the universe, women are only there to promote the men... kind of serires. Although there are many female roles in this series, they are ALL much younger than their male counterparts, simply contributing to the real life cultural bias and discrimination. The female actors perform super good.
Harriet (2019)
Thank you Harriet
First she fought for freedom of slaves. When she realized this freedom was mainly for men, she continued fighting for women's rights. Thank you Harriet 💕. Finally a movie with a female in the lead. Finally a movie that shows female heroism. Typically investors invest in movies of men to men for men, only strengthening the cultural bias that men are good for some things, and women are good for other thing (mainly for being pretty - eye candy for men). This movie helps the fight against discrimination. I loved every second of it.
Thunder Force (2021)
Hilarious girl power
Finally a movie with females in the lead. Not just a romance movie where there's a female co-lead, but an actual fantastic really funny comedy. I have waited years for investors to dare enter this marked, where also women are perceived funny. Because women are also funny, even though we might be brought up to have a biased perception, that men are funny and women are... pretty. Men are smart and women are... pretty. Men are strong and women are... pretty.
Je ne suis pas un homme facile (2018)
One of the best movies I have ever seen
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It so brilliantly illustrates the daily discrimination, sexism, and biased culture that women must live with every day. Some women try to fight it, some women accept it, and some women don't even notice it because they are brought up with this as the norm. I thank the male actor for fighting for womens rights by accepting this role, and I hope this movie will be an eye opener for men, to become a 'he for she' supporter.
The Hating Game (2021)
Strong successful female lead
Finally a romance movie with a strong successful female lead, where the man shows more skin than the woman (totally exceptional). Unfortunately the female actor is (as usual) plenty years younger than the male co-actor. I look so much forward to maybe one day, we will not have this age discrimination between women and men in movies. That being said, it's a funny nice romance story, with the female in center, and not the other way (let's hope this will become a trend).
Pay the Ghost (2015)
Oh no, yet another discriminating movie, heroic man and helpless woman
I am tired of these women/men stereotype cliches. In this movie, 'something' kidnaps the son from his parents. While his helpless wife of course gives up, the man (the man that as per definition is smart and heroic) takes action. He is smart and discovers and convinces and saves the day. All traits of a man... I am vomiting. The wife is useless (per definition) and is only there to make the man look good. She realizes of course, that he is a great hero. And if all that stereotyping wasn't enough, of course the female actor is almost 15 years younger than the male actor. Which simply contribute to maintaining a twisted view in society, that young women and old men is the norm. I hope for a day, where women/men will share heroic roles, and couple/romance-actors have approximately same age.
Colonia (2015)
Woman engages on a rescue operation to save kidnapped boyfriend
Have you heard this story before... no, not so often in Hollywood. The usual story goes: "Man engages on a rescue mission to save kidnapped girlfriend / wife / children". This story (with the man as the savior / hero) is told thousands of times in Hollywood (and many other places). It's fantastic to finally see these stories with a woman in the role of the savior and hero. Not only is this film holding a woman in the lead role... it is actually built on true events. What a woman! Lastly, it's fantastic to see Emma Watson's name listed first on the film - because it's not unusual to see the female actor's name second (or lower), even if they have the lead role. Go Emma, you are a true inspiration. The only thing I would wish differently for the movie is... STOP CASTING OLDER MEN WITH YOUNGER WOMEN for romances on screen. It's just super annoying.
Awake (2021)
Father is dead, and mother saves her children from chaos and death!
You seen this story thousands times before... or have you? Something is different! Yes, you are right... normally this is how it goes: Mom is dead/dies, and dad saves his children (and in many cases also the world). This time it's the other way around. But is it just annoying to see a female in this role? Does it seem less credible? Hahahaaa. Well, get used to it. This movie rocks. Wonderful to see some diversity in the same usual story. I vote for more lead powerful women.
No Time to Die (2021)
Tired of older men with younger women
This is another bad cliche, where most women in the story are younger, and only there to stage the older man in the middle. Women are falling at his feet, and he is there to save them and/or revenge them. Because they are helpless. I'm so tired of this gender stereotyping stories. It's demeaning girls and women. When will we see a high-profiled movie, with an older woman, saving younger men, who fall at her feet, with some steaming love scenes. I really hope this acceptance of cultural sexism will be abandoned soon, and some more inspiring movies will be released.
