Godsend (2004)
Cloning is bad.
Technically well made, but that's about it.
Story starts of well but gradually degrades into a whole heap of rubbish. You get all the genre clichés mixed with bad science and cheap thrills like "scaring" the audience with sudden bursts of loud music. One thing you don't have to worry about is an ending you've seen a thousand times before: there is no ending.
Why De Niro wants to associate himself with this crap is beyond me. Why doesn't he do some interesting independent movie where they could actually use his name recognition to draw people to the film?
A lot of wasted talent here.
Tiptoes (2002)
A movie for grownups.
Underrated.
I saw this movie without knowing anything about the so called "production problems" beforehand. Many people seem to judge it based on that, or because some blasé people walk out at a festival screening (insensitive clods). Judge for yourself. Don't be a sheep.
Quote: "Bright apparently got into an argument with the financier of the film over creative differences. I think what I heard is that Bright wanted to close with a love scene between Oldman (playing a dwarf) and Kate Beckinsale." Isn't that how the movie ended? Or maybe Bright had a steamy sex scene in mind? In that case the quote is right, it didn't end that way.
Some of the previous reviews dumbfound me. Have these people lost their minds or something? It seems many people didn't know what they wanted watching this movie. Maybe it's not a perfect movie, but compared with the crap floating around these days, it's a gem.
Kiss of Life (2003)
Desultory and bleak.
Watching this movie was like watching the funeral ceremony of a total stranger: depressing, boring and ultimately pointless.
This movie could have used a stronger story, though what that story should have been I don't know as I'm not exactly sure what this movie was trying to tell us.
The characters are too underdeveloped and the movie too fragmented to really start feeling for these people, which makes the whole thing boring, depressing and confusing rather than moving.
The added "ghostly" twist doesn't help either. In this respect; why the mother had to suffer twice by making her witness her children's sorrow is beyond me as well.
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Absurd mixture of hyperkenetic MTV with 1930's classics in a moronic story which made me wanne puke within 60 seconds...
This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen... Can you say IRRITATION? MORONIC? BRAINLESS? CLICHE?.... There are no words to describe how bad this was... I wouldn't watch it again if they paid me money for it. Utterly tastless... If this is what you like.., I pity you...
