The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Did take a while to hook me, but worth it.
I am not a person to take issue with casting as long as people can act and I enjoy their performance. I didn't care for Galadriels brother, he didn't impress me. Other than him, I found the show a bit of a slow starter but then it got really interesting. It's a really pretty show. I dont want to spoil it for anyone so i wont go in to many details.
I have read the books a few times, I have never been able to get through the Silmarillion though. Most of the show is new to me with just a few characters from the books & movies being recognisable. I am really interested in what happened to Moria and Durin before LotR. As the series continues I'm sure I'll have other questions answered.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
Lexx: Mantrid (1998)
Mantrid
I cannot believe that every episode of Lexx hasn't been properly reviewed yet. I love this series. It has somehow fallen in to TV history oblivion apart from some faithful fans. But in it's day it was revolutionary and in the present day, well ANY day, it is simply brilliant entertainment.
If you haven't seen Lexx, I recommend the first 4 movies. If you don't want to sit through 4 movies then watch this with a little patience. It will explain most things and it is GOOD!
Buck Wild (2013)
Not the Texas I Grew Up In,,,
A previous reviewer said if you like Texas you'll like this movie? I dread to think what parts of Texas this man visited. I was born in Texas City, raised in Houston - and the characters in this movie are as foreign to me as Russians or Greek.
I enjoy horror, I even enjoy a little blood & guts if it belongs in the movie. This movie as no suspense, no gore, no horror and very little humour. What it had was a misplaced pimp, four cocky morons that would have looked comfortable in a Porky's franchise movie, four Deliverance rejects, one horny girl who bought the farm fairly early, and a lot of tedium.
Not good.
Pawn Shop Chronicles (2013)
Strange.
This gets a 6 out of 10 for extreme weirdness and confusion.
I laughed. I kinda cried and I still don't understand it.
What I got out of this film was confusion, humour, some sort or religious symbolism, zombie-naked women. I still don't understand what Frodo did to those naked girls. But I have always loved Elijah Wood...what are you thinking? I will never get that picture of him on the table out of my head.
I am torn. I can't say it's a bad film... I can say that it is amusing and just plain odd and kinda unique.
I like Brendan Fraser and gosh darn it I didn't think anything would make Brendan Fraser make me feel queasy. Yep - it is WEIRD!!!!
