In line with modern horrors. But there is indeed something missing.

I went into this movie with the hope that it somehow would at least be at the level of the 2013 one made my Fede Alvarez, but alas. It is not a bad movie though, so that is good to keep in mind. The 2013 one got the craziness level of the original ones with a twisted twist of its one. Far more serious. And gory. Just how I like it... I love the 2013 one.

This one... The shots, Color grading, and the cinematography are straight from the template of any other Netflix original. Same as you have seen in the latest instalment of Hellraiser and the Texas chainsaw massacre. TCM missed the grimy edge and had too much CGI. Hellraiser missed it vulgarity.

All of them are not bad movies as well. But like any generic pop song, made according to a template.

It is good that horror is making a comeback again. But if everyone keeps playing it safe the success will be short lived.

And that is what this instalment is of Evil Dead. Entertaining for a Sunday night. Was a nice attempting, but it was played safe and made using the same template of all of those other ones. So if all the other reviewers are curious what was missing... This was it...

Let filmmakers and mainly studios also know what you want. And maybe vote with your money. That means that means buying and consuming the movies that had just that little TLC.

One of the best this year. Or even longer...

I went into this movie completely blank and purposely avoided all the spoilers. So I won't be giving any as well. But it is one of the best horrors I've seen in a long time. Super suspenseful and great story telling. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire time.

The director made the movie in such a way that sort of every "chapter" felt different. And doing it this way somehow made it innovative. There has been released a lot of great horrors this year and last year. But from. The suspense aspect this one is right on top. And I wish that directors who make movies like this get a bigger stage.
