Training Day (2001)

Denzel's Acadamy Award Winning Moment
31 January 2006
In his Acadamy Award Winning Performance,as best Actor. The movie, as the title suggests, follows a single day in the life of rookie cop Jake Hoyt (Hawk) as he is subject to a single day of evaluation by a senior, decorated police narcotics officer Alonzo Harris (Washington) to see if he has what it takes to be a 'narc'. Almost immediately Hoyt is placed on the back foot, constantly caught off guard by Alonzo's nature, his ability to switch between a cold, no-nonsense street-wise player, a genuinely caring and good intentioned leader, and occasionally jovial companion. From their first encounters though, where Hoyt tells Harris he will do "anything you want me to do", the situations Hoyt is taken into become more and more morally ambiguous, from the simple use of excessive force to outright illegal activity, forcing Hoyt to decide which side Harris is truly on, whether to trust him, or whether Hoyt is the unwitting centerpiece of a huge and complex web of lies and set-ups in order for Harris to for fill his own sinister motives..This is the movie that won Denzel the Oscar that year for Best Actor!! A must watch

Staying Alive (1983)
10/10
Great Movie,and Great Soundtrack...
2 January 2003
What better way to combine music and movie magic, Staying Alive is a treat.. I love the movie. John Travolta is back as "Tony Manero" and is living in the city, trying to make it as a Dancer, with his Girl Friend "Jackie" played by Cynthia Rhodes. Finola Hughes playes a Jezebel type of a dancer called "Laura",who is very devious. And the portrayal of the Struggling Dancer,is on key, from washing your clothes in the shower,to going on auditions, and seeing agents. it's captures the radiance and Beauty of New York, and the Lights of Broadway.. The Dance sequences are fun to watch, And the "Satan's Alley" show is fun to watch..And John Travolta also does the famous Strut that made him famous in "Saturday Night Fever" For a film that came out arond the same time as fame,It really is a delight to watch,And since Pamela Anderson and Quentin Tarentino love the film, than so do I.. Trust me,it's fun to watch..

The Broadway show come to life..
4 December 2002
I just saw this movie, at a New York Benefit Function, and I have to say, how beautifully shot this film was. Visually it's Stunning, and the music is superb. And how the music, carries the storytelling of the film, which then coincides with the Broadway act. The film is amazing. You leave the theater humming the music, and verses, like Catherine Zeta-Jones Singing `All That Jazz' ,Queen Latifah singing `When You're Good to Mama' The Female Prisoners singing a sadistic humorous number called `The Cell Block Tango' which is reminiscent to Elvis Presley's `68' Comeback special. And of course Richard Gere singing 'Razzle Dazzle' And Slowly Tap Dancing to the stand. It's like watching the actual Broadway show,on the big screen. At times, I forgot that I was watching a film. Simply wonderful to watch. I had so much fun watching this film, you will not be disappointed with this film. I give it 5 STARS. Go see it and enjoy yourself

Zu Warriors (2001)
The Legend Rules !!! Pure Eyecandy..
5 July 2002
This Movie is like a Comic Book come to life,A great ride, with some great characters.Including the character of "King Sky" played by Ekin Cheng of "Tokyo Raiders". "The Legend of Zu" incorporates an unprecedented level of computer animation into a Hong Kong film. Tsui Hark brings this world of immortals and demons to life with beautiful computer-generated backdrops and special effects in every scene of the film. Almost like a painting come to life,Trust me,This a movie in which you have to suspend your level of disbelief. And observe the big picture. It's better than the garbage that Hollywood, keep forcefully spoonfeeding us. Trust me,it's handdown,a very enjoyable film..

The Warriors (1979)
10/10
The best of the Best..
14 October 2001
Walter Hill shows his directing flair again for action, drama and style in this crackling 1979 movie about a Coney Island gang falsely accused of murder and fleeing from everyone....including the other NYC gangs and the New York City Police Department. Set amongst a hostile, nocturnal world of neon lit train stations, baseball bat wielding gang members and lethal women "The Warriors" moves along at a frantic pace with a fine selection of young actors taking the lead. Michael Beck plays the cool headed, "war chief" Swan, seeking to get the other members back home to Coney Island alive and in one piece. James Remar is unforgettable as the woman chasing, hot headed Ajax...always out to prove his manhood with his fists. And David Patrick Kelly is perfect as the murderous, but ultimately cowardly leader of the Rogues. Attending a combined gangs meeting deep in the South Bronx to hear the Gramercy Riffs plans to control the streets of New York, the Warriors are wrongly accused of the shooting death of their charismatic leader, Cyrus. The finger of blame pointed their way, they flee via any means they can and upon their way back to home base encounter violent opposition from the Orphans, the Turnbull AC's, the Baseball Furies and even rifts within their own ranks lead to trouble. A colorful, exciting and fast paced film...at the time of it's original release it drew criticism for allegedly encouraging gang activity, but now seems almost cartoon like in it's displays of violence.Hands down a great film, stands the test of time. 1 million stars
