Speak No Evil (2022)
Warning, major spoilers. But I need to vent my frustrations.
The two parents in this movie are just stupid and pathetic as can be. I was already irritated with it the dad by about 20 minutes in. But they both just really suck. They let themselves get manipulated over and over again to the detriment of their own daughter, they went against their own instincts even: they got away twice and still ended up right back there of their own free will. And then, in the end, they didn't even try to fight back. The bad guys had rocks (yes, rocks) and a pair of scissors and these guys practically just laid down and took it. Even after watching these two people cut their daughters tongue out of her face. They didn't even try to fight back. This movie left a bad taste in my mouth.
Deep Water (2022)
What about the snails?!
So much goes unexplained in this movie. The whole 2 hours you're waiting for some big twist or at least some kind of resolution but nothing ever comes. Was the wife aware of him murdering all her lovers prior to the end? Was that a part of their "game"? Or did she make the decision to be an accomplice after the fact simply because her daughter told her she didn't want to leave to Brazil?
Why was that guys wallet in the container with Vic's eye snails?
Why does Vic even have pet snails? Is he simply fascinated by them? Or do they serve some kind of purpose, hence the wife finding the wallet in the snail container? I don't know. And I never will. And neither will you, because this movie never gets around to explaining a damn thing.
In my opinion, Vic could have saved everyone a lot of time and frustration if he just killed the wife from the get go. She's never going to stop cheating on him. It's an endless cycle that will go on forever. But hey, at least the kid is cute.
